Chapter 1: What's this sudden pain I'm feeling?

Chapter Text

During a meeting with the leaders of the other civilizations within his kingdom, the king suddenly groaned in pain while clutching his abdomen. He hunched forward, also hitting his head against the table, his breathing picked up slightly as tears pricked at the corners of his eyes.

This was more intense that the previous pains he's grown used to. What was this pain? What happened to the other three to cause such a pain?

He could barely register any of the commotion going on around him, but he assumed everyone had gotten up or at least was trying to get his attention to see what was wrong, but he could only ask himself one last question.

Who just died?

————————————————————

The knight fell to the floor as he missed the water placed on the chandelier, normally he would have taken a moment to be overdramatic about the fall but he was more focused on not getting killed by this random.

He got up quickly and spun around, sword clenched tightly in his dominant hand, shield up to block an incoming attack when a sharp stabbing pain impaled his abdomen. He dropped his shield almost instantly to grip his abdomen.

“Jaden! Cover me!” the knight hissed while stumbling backwards, bumping into the bar. The pirate king jumped in front of him with his own shield up.

“Yo, dude, what’s wrong?” Jaden pushed back on the guy trying to fight the knight.

“Just- keep that guy off me…” A quiet thud echoed as Wemmbu fell to his knees. He growled quietly in pain as his body felt like it was holding up the extra weight of a dead body.

Which of the other two had died?

————————————————————

The air was thick with tension as the demon confronted the corrupted angel.

“What was that, Saps?” Flame cocked his head to the side and crossed his arms against his chest. “I thought you said we had a real chance at beating Parrot with that attack” His tail flicked behind him, annoyed and agitated.

“If I didn't have my doubts, Lomedy and I would be dead because of you” Small puffs of smoke escaped his mouth as he talked. “Not to mention-” Flame took a more defensive stance, more smoke was released from his mouth alongside a few growls. “-You guys literally left me there to die!”

Saparata didn't turn around as he spoke. “Flame, listen-” The angel's wings folded up against his body. “-I said best shot not guaranteed shot” Saps finally turned around to glare at Flame.

“You were the one who failed to get the orbitals”

Before Saparata could continue to make his point, Flame grabbed his abdomen and fought the urge to fall forward.

Lomedy reacted quickly and rushed over to the demon's side. He hesitated before placing one of his hands on Flame's arm. He was cold, that should've been impossible.

“Flame, what's wrong?” Creakling was clearly concerned.

“Something… just happened to-” He paused to growl in pain and leaned onto Lomedy, needing something stable. “-Wemmbu or Parrot-” Another pause to cough out a few sparks.

“Or Spoke…”
