Summary
Believing he is still banished, Bilbo Baggins, injured, grief-stricken, and heartsick, leaves Erebor without a word, being escorted home by Gandalf, along with King Thranduil and his son.
That plan, however, gets thrown out the window when Bilbo discovers that his mithril shirt is not the only gift from Thorin that he left the Lonely Mountain with. Any semblance of normalcy in Bilbo's life swiftly follows when, on the day of his son's birth, he discovers that the gorgeous green stone he unearthed in his personal garden was, in fact, not a stone at all, but rather a dragon egg that had been lying dormant beneath the earth for thousands of years.
Bilbo's life becomes filled with joy again as he raises the most peculiar set of twin boys that have ever graced Middle-earth, but having such a source of old, powerful magic around a Ring of Power is dangerous. Evil things begin to stir across the land, and Bilbo finds himself thrust on another wild adventure, this time with a gaggle of faunts in tow.
Thank goodness he has his ring. He doesn't know what he would do without it, nor the helpful yet mysterious stranger that keeps appearing in his dreams as of late...
