Summary
When she was making her decision to return to the ED as her elective, Victoria had made a list of pros and cons. She would never admit this out loud, but she’d written down Mateo Diaz with capital letters in the cons column. She had spent weeks preparing for the inevitable. If he was cold, she would be professional. If he was pointed, she would be gracious. If he acted like she didn't exist, she would act like she didn't mind.
She had not prepared for him to be easy.

10 months, 5 dates, and more than 10 ignored messages later, Victoria returns to the ED hoping that her non-crush would simply ignore her presence. She hadn't expected that he would be as cordial as ever. Now, in between all the plans she (and her parents) had set for her life, she has four weeks to figure out whether she's brave enough to want something she can't prepare for.
