Chapter Text
She is dead.
She was dead?!
She’d died not two minutes ago in her family’s music shop, so what the hell is she doing alive?!
What the hell is she doing in the body of a baby?!
Why the hell is she being called Naruto?!
Why do newborns have such terrible eyesight?!
What the hell is going on?!
She had died in the arms of her loving parents.
She went through the whole final memories of her life cliche.
She should be dead, she wanted to be dead.
That was the deal.
She wanted to be at peace, maybe meet God, maybe not.
Now she’s here?!
As the protagonist of an anime she’d watched as a kid?!
Fuck her life.
•••
The first two and a half years of her new life were spent in an almost catatonic state.
She refused to do anything.
She didn’t eat unless it was quite literally forced down her throat.
She didn’t move.
Didn’t really look at anything.
Didn’t cry, even when being hit or starved.
Didn’t talk or try to.
Didn’t react to being talked to or yelled at.
She barely slept.
She starred.
A lot.
Not at anyone in particular, at the ceiling mostly.
She worried her ANBU guards, doctors who reluctantly looked her over yet could find nothing wrong, and shinobi who knew her parents,
She caused the nerves of the shinobi who didn’t know her parentage to rise.
She simply didn’t care.
Unbeknownst to everyone, all day, everyday, was spent thinking about her parents and her old life.
Trying to rationalize this “new life”.
I’m in a coma. This is just a weird coma dream.
She listens and listens and waits.
In the movies coma patients could always hear the voice of their loved one calling out to them.
Reading to them.
Talking to them.
Their voices guide the coma patient out.
And yet, she hears nothing.

Noelle-.
Her name was Noelle.

Noelle something.
She had parents.
Her family.
Her mom and dad.
Their names were…something…and…something else.
She was…some age…when she died.
She doesn’t know.
The not knowing, forgetting of things she shouldn’t be forgetting, is probably what freaks her out the most.
Well that and, y’know, the whole wizard ninja shit.
•••
“I believe it’s time to take into account the possibility the Nine-Tails is affecting the girl in some way.” Some old man states, she simply stayed in her normal position looking up at the tiled ceiling.
She’d become skin and bones with the lack of sleep creating dark circles that were too big for her face.
“There is, of course, the possibility that this is something to her specifically. A disability. But it is unlikely.” The man continues.
She seems to have worried the people in positions of power enough that a small meeting was held.
She’s slowly dying.
Good.
“Let me see her.” Came the voice of some other man, interrupting the girl’s silent staring.
She’s lifted from her spot and held face to face with a semi-familiar scarred face man.
“You understand me. Right, Naruto?” The man's stern tone annoyed her.
She unconsciously sighed from her nose.
These people are idiots, can’t they take a hint?!
For the first time in the two years since being “reborn” the girl met someone’s eye.
The meeting with multiple heads of clans ended without anything concrete.
The only thing of note being that Shikaku, the head of the Nara clan, believed Naruto to be “like a Nara child”.
Whatever that meant.
•••
She was around three when she decided she’d walk.
Her legs were exercised daily, a tip from the Nara clan that they used on their own children, so they weren’t weak.
Most people looked at her exasperated.
The Nara head simply looked smug.
She couldn’t find it in her to care.
A day after her third “birthday” she decided to kill herself.
Well she tried to anyway.
She didn’t succeed.
Didn’t succeed the next several times either.
Slicing her wrists.
Jumping off high places.
Throwing herself into a mob of angry villagers.
Drinking poison.
Impailing herself.
Even drowning herself.
She was sick of it and, though she knew it was pointless, decided to try slicing her wrists one last time.
Instead of death she got put in front of a giant fox.
She sighed, flopping onto the ground.
“Are you trying to kill yourself?!” The fox roared, his voice distinctly masculine.
He was loud, loud enough that wherever they were shook from the sheer force of volume.
Noelle simply ignored the fox.
“Do you know how much energy I have to spend trying to keep you alive, meat sack?!”
At that she shot up.
For the first time in three years something actually captured her attention.
”You’re the one keeping me here?!” She yelled, giving the fox a heated glare.
“Stop being so pathetic!” The beast roared back, he did not bother answering her question.
And with that she was brought back to life once more.
At least this time she had answers as to why she had failed to die so many times.
So she began to plan.
She could remove the fox from her body and she'd be able to die.
She’d be able to wait for her parents.
Her real parents!
And she wouldn’t be stuck in this god forsaken world.
So she began reading, learning, and planning.
In secret.
To those around her it seemed as though the little blonde girl had finally found the will to live.
In reality, the girl now knew no matter what she did she wasn’t allowed to die.
So why starve herself and deal with the annoying hunger pains if it wouldn’t bring her death?
From her research-
Read: sneaking into the public library, getting sneered at, ignoring said sneers while finding any books that look useful.
-she discovered the Uzumaki clan were recognized for their strength, power, and their skill in fuinjutsu aka their sealing ability.
Sealing.
Noelle had an idea.
An insane idea.
But should she succeed she’d have more freedom than she ever could imagine.
She’d figure out how to unseal the fox from herself.
Already a decently difficult task but, unfortunately, not the only thing she’d have to do.
Why?
Simple, her body is of Uzumaki blood.
According to her research the Nine-Tail has only really ever had Uzumaki holders because of genetics.
Uzumaki’s have large chakra reserves, massive life force’s, add their sealing abilities, and they are basically overpowered red-heads, aka, the perfect containers of a giant chakra beast.
So she can probably let the fox out, yes, but it’s more likely than not she’d just get the damn thing shoved right back in her.
So she’d need to release the fox in a location under lock and key.
Man fuck these Ninja Wizards.
Ninja. Wizards.
Wizards.
Sorcerer.
Sorcerer Supreme.
Dr. Strange.
The Mirror Dimension.
Technically in the Marvel movie it’s like a parallel dimension or something, but it feels like it should be possible to make a seal using the same principle.
Magic is Magic.
Don’t matter if it’s comparing ninja’s to superheroes.
Energy is energy.
She’d be able to seal herself into it, unseal the fox, and then just unseal herself to get out.
Thus leaving the fox in an unreachable space and giving herself the opportunity to free herself.
She’d be dead before the ninja people could even react.
She’d likely not have a spot in heaven for the whole killing herself “sin”.
But at that point, she could just claw her way up from hell to see her family for all she cares.
Yes! It could work!
She smirked at the thought, her face so unused to any amount of smiling that it felt strange.
