Wouldn't you rather be a widow than a divorcee?

Summary:

“As the romantic I would have thought you knew what the honeymoon phase was,” Wednesday deadpanned looking at her with her usual neutral face but with amusement in her eyes.

Showing that Wednesday was laughing at her which was just rude.

“I know what the honeymoon phase is,” Enid hissed at her best friend, fighting the urge to shake her by the shoulders. “This isn’t the honeymoon phase. It’s not romantic and it’s just like how Edward stalked Bella and watched her sleep! It’s creepy!”

The pop culture reference went right over Wednesday's head as the the darkly clad teen just stared at Enid like she lost her mind.

“I have no clue who either of those people are but it’s no doubt a ridiculous reference," Wednesday wrinkled her nose at her clearly judging her.

“I really need to make you watch the movies. You’re missing out they’re iconic,” Enid told her bestie wondering what she’d have to do to get her to agree but Wednesday ignored her and kept talking.

“Still it would be hard for Tyler to not watch me sleep considering we sleep in the same bed,” Wednesday finished with a raised eyebrow.

Notes:

People wanted a sequel and while I’m waiting for my best friend to help me pick a summary for my next story here you guys go!

I wrote this in genuinely under forty minutes so I apologize if it’s bad. It’s almost 2 AM too so I did my best.

Please consider leaving a comment! I’d love to hear what you think!

Enjoy!

Work Text:

As an alpha werewolf who fully transformed for the first during a blood moon who then temporarily lost her sanity and humanity when she got stuck in her wolf form it said a lot that it was this situation that tested Enid more.

She liked to think she was a strong unbothered girl who could roll with the punches especially after meeting her best friend.

Her best friend was Wednesday Addams who was let’s just say was an acquired taste as was any Addams.

If you weren’t strong willed and determined enough to deal with them like all Addams would, they'd put you in near death scenarios, shake your hold on reality, and scare years off your life.

Enid herself was someone who experienced all these multiple times even but for Wednesday it had been worth dealing with it all.

Wednesday who may be dark, deadly, vicious, a little but less than she had been before emotionally repressed, and reckless beyond measure but she was her best friend.

Despite what everyone said Enid had seen time and time again that Wednesday despite her scowl and her glare and the way she would rather rip someone apart than touch them that her bestie wasn’t all that bad.

Really Wednesday cared quite a lot and was super protective over people for someone who once told her straight to her face about how she’d love being a lone wolf.

Which after two years of knowing her Enid could confidently say was absolute bullshit.

Wednesday always had at least one to two people trailing after her every step herself included following her everywhere whether it be to class or into danger. She was never alone.

The idea of Wednesday alone didn’t make sense. It was like Wednesday needed people to protect and to ground her to reality when her brain spun her off course.

Enid herself had seen first hand how Wednesday, despite being a genius, could talk herself into a corner and then seethe as she tried to get herself out of the situation she got herself in.

Truly it was impressive how Wednesday managed to keep everyone including herself on her toes as no one knew what she was going to do.

Honestly Enid thought that if she didn’t have super fast healing as an alpha werewolf and top of the line genetics that she’d have heart problems and already start to go grey.

Wednesday wasn’t just a handful, she was two handfuls that were filled to the point of overflowing and made you try your best not to drop anything.

At least at this point Enid could say with full confidence that she was an expert at not only handling her best friend but whatever her best friend did.

Well that was what Enid had thought before her best friend wound up getting her powers drained, kidnapped and tortured, and then after a rescue mission where she should have been resting got mated.

Yeah that’s right at sixteen Wednesday Addams let herself get bit by Tyler Galpin tying her to him for eternity since Wednesday was an Addams.

Tyler Galpin who was a rare kind of outcast that had a growing kill count and was the one responsible for all the bodies that dropped Wednesday’s first year at Nevermore.

The Hyde who she literally fought a near death match with in the forest that he claimed he “went easy on her” for her bestie's sake.

The same boy who manipulated Wednesday and played with her feelings, hurt her, was leashed by two separate people who literally only had it out to kill her and oh yeah and put her in a coma.

Tyler who Enid has been stuck in a car with for weeks on the way to saving Wednesday seeing for herself up close and personal just how obsessed he was with her bestie.

Agnes Wednesday's baby stalker, who was definitely her and Wednesday’s friend now after the younger teen went through her own initiation which was being plunged head first into danger had nothing on Tyler.

Enid had seen how Tyler despite literally everything had revolved around Wednesday like she was the world and how even though Wednesday should have stabbed him to get him to go away didn’t.

No instead Wednesday let him and actually leaned into his touch and blushed at his insane words that would have anyone else blanching and running for their lives.

Wednesday was Wednesday though so unfortunately for her this level of freak did it for her much to Enid’s eternal despair.

Enid was all for Wednesday being happy really she absolutely totally was since after everything she’s been through Wednesday deserved it but did it have to be Tyler of all people.

Like she said when she called Wednesday when she received a save the date for their wedding in the following summer after their third year in the mail she could do so much better.

So so so much better.

Wednesday despite her quirks, strange habits, blood thirsty nature, and her grim outlook on life was incredible and anybody would be lucky to have her.

Her best friend deserved only the best when it came to love and someone who would never hurt her and would always put her first.

Unfortunately since Wednesday got bit and not only bit Tyler back the psychic was stuck with the Hyde so Enid had to deal with it.

Now Enid liked to say she was capable of dealing with literally anything that was thrown at her since Wednesday attracted chaos and danger like nobody’s business but this was asking a lot out of her.

School had literally just started and they were barely three weeks in and she wanted to rip her freshly dyed and colored hair out.

Their classmates were smart and most of them mutually agreed to avoid Tyler like he was the plague itself aside from a few people who gravitated around Wednesday.

Agnes, Eugene, Pugsley, Yoko, Divina, Bianca, Ajax and herself all dealt with the Hyde since it seemed like Tyler was Wednesday’s shadow.

Seriously it was like despite biting her neck to the point where it looked like she got freshly mauled even months later Tyler was worried someone would try to take Wednesday from him.

If only that was possible.

Still Enid has to come up with so many ways to get her best friend alone for bonding time without her besties' newly dubbed other half stalking their steps.

She even tried to talk to Wednesday about it and it didn’t go well.

Wednesday had listened to her speak and then carefully set down her coffee cup and leaned in. Enid fought the urge to lean away seeing the glint in her eyes.

“Tyler is known as the outcast who got leashed twice by two masters and ordered to commit atrocities and obey them,” Wednesday pointed out. “Everyone here aside from our circle is wary of him. Besides he’s never been to an outcast school and isn’t used to any of it. He has culture shock.”

Enid slumped a bit in her seat because those were all good points. “Still it’s been three weeks,” Enid whined to her. “Plus he had months with you and he literally lives with you now!”

Enid made a high pitched whine and buried her face in her hands. “Why would you tell me that! I don't want to know about that! Wait you said sleep not slept,” Enid pulled her head up. “Have you been sneaking out to sleep in his room!?”

Outrage flowed through her veins at the idea but her best friend wasn’t phased and looked completely unbothered barely blinking.

“Tyler has no roommate since everyone’s afraid of him so every other night yes. It would be a wasted opportunity not to,” Wednesday shrugged, making her stare at her speechless.

“Unbelievable,” Enid could only say. “You’re absolutely unbelievable.”

Wednesday only smirked at her and raised her coffee up in a toast motion before drinking it which made Enid make a frustrated noise in the back of her throat.

So yeah that talk didn’t go well.

As the three weeks became four and then the first month of school was almost over Enid wanted as her best friend liked to say a lobotomy as she was forced to see so many things.

Namely a certain boy pinning her best friend to her bed and looking like he was trying to suck Wednesday’s soul out through her lips as he kissed her.

If whatever he was doing could be called kissing. As someone who’s kissed and been kissed there was no way what Tyler was doing could be called kissing.

Tyler looked like he was imitating a vacuum trying to suck her besties face off and like he was also trying to do CPR and replace all the air in Wednesday’s lungs with his own.

The sight of whatever that and the nauseating smell of their combined pheromones which was new since she’s never smelled Wednesday like this before was sickening.

Enid blindly grabbed the first thing she could reach and threw it at his head but Tyler’s reflexes helped him duck out of the way and off her roommate.

“No in our room!,” Enid shrieked. “You literally made me swear to never bring boys into here to do exactly what you’re doing Wednesday!”

“I made you swear,” Wednesday smirked, clearly smug about her loophole. “You never made me swear.”

Enid felt like she was going to explode when Tyler chuckled and began kissing Wednesday's cheek murmuring all sorts of things to her.

Right as her claws popped out ready to gut him Tyler got off Wednesday and made his way to the balcony. He opened the window and right before he got out he turned.

“See you later cockroach," Tyler blew Wednesday a kiss and Wednesday only rolled her with her lips twitching ever so slightly.

Then Tyler turned to Enid with a wicked glint in his eyes that meant absolutely nothing good. She just knew whatever came out of his mouth would make her mad.

Enid narrowed her eyes at the boy daring him to even think about trying her right now.

“See you later late bloomer,” Tyler smirked and right as she snarled and lunged at him he ducked out the window and scaled down the building.

“I hope you fall,” Enid yelled at him and she only heard a faint laugh as the Hyde made his way to the ground and began to walk away.

She turned to look at her best friend who pulled out a book and just began reading. Wednesday after a few seconds of feeling eyes on her finally looked up.

“Why,” Enid could only ask, completely done with this and the day wasn’t over as classes just ended.

“He’s very convincing,” Wednesday shrugged slightly, looking back down still wearing her small almost hidden smile. “Truly when he’s not being an irritating pest he can be quite charming.”

“You still call him an irritating pest when you’re literally mated and engaged to be married?,” Enid spluttered because what.

“Tyler is self aware of his faults even without me calling them out,” Wednesday told Enid which wasn’t what she asked.

“As he should be,” Enid muttered as she flopped on her bed and grabbed one of her poofy overstuffed pillows to hold to her chest.

“If it makes you feel any better I could call him quite literally anything and he wouldn't mind,” Wednesday added with a small smirk.

Enid buried her face into her pillow and screamed wondering why Wednesday was like this and heard her best friend let out a rare short laugh.

The sound wasn’t worth the thoughts her best friend just put into her head. She needed brain bleach as soon as psychically possible.

Thankfully though after that incident Wednesday took pity on her and made sure Enid never saw the Hyde in their room again but she saw signs he had been there.

Smelled his lingering scent on Wednesday’s bed, her clothes, her entire side of the room really was tinged with it as if he was marking his territory.

Enid could only glare at him and Tyler only smirked at her as he walked down the hallway to his next class with his arm around Wednesday's shoulders.

Being the bigger person was exhausting as Enid only took a deep breath and ignored him as she walked away trying to pretend he didn’t exist.

Now admittedly as the year dragged on she had to admit she grew accustomed to her best friend's new person shaped terminal disease.

When Tyler wasn’t forced to be their enemy or work for their enemies and wasn’t being an annoying asshole on purpose he was even mostly alright.

Honestly there were even a few moments when it seemed like they got along for a few minutes at a time since they had a lot in common.

Enid fought a shudder at the idea and would never admit that to anyone let alone Wednesday because her bestie would just look at her with the look.

The one that screamed “I told you so” and “you’re only realizing this now?”

She would do anything to not have to see that look so for her sanity she pretended that her hatred of Tyler was still burning hot and wasn’t just an annoyed dislike and it seemed the same was true for Tyler.

Enid didn’t really know how to feel about that but it seemed to please Wednesday so she shrugged it off.

Of course despite her and Tyler’s frenemy relationship they got going on they still fought. Still exchanged insults and barbs flashing eyes and claws. It was easy to rile the other up.

Somehow though they managed to make it through the year without tearing each other apart.

Though that might have been because halfway through the year Wednesday fed up with them, dragged them and put a circle of wolf bane around her and a variety that worked on Hyde’s around Tyler.

Holding them hostage with a silencing spell put around both shifters as they were forced to listen to Wednesday talk.

“I’m only going to say this once,” Wednesday warned, crossing her arms over her chest. “As far I’m aware neither of you plan to go anywhere when it comes to my life so you’ll have to stop this.”

“Despite my better judgment I care for you both in different ways and it seems like those feelings aren’t going anywhere. If you continue this I will find a way to cease this behavior and it will be painful,” Wednesday continued, her eyes narrowed and her voice sharp.

Enid shrank a little at how annoyed her best friend looked knowing that her best friend’s threat wasn’t empty and that Wednesday would make them suffer if they didn’t listen.

Even if Wednesday cared about them, which she did she had little patience when it came to people continuously testing her.

Which Enid and Tyler had been doing.

Tyler looked similarly put out and had drawn back slightly and Enid didn’t even want to think about what torture would be given to Tyler since it would no doubt be tinged with romance.

Honestly that was an extra layer of torture being forced to think about that. No doubt that was Wednesday’s intention since she thought of everything.

“You are not children and I am not a toy to be fought over do I make myself clear,” Wednesday uncrossed her arms to pull out her cursed dagger from her thigh holder to point it at them looking ready to gut them if they answered wrong.

Enid nodded frantically as she did not want to get stabbed and saw from the corner of her eye Tyler doing the same.

Wednesday looked at her and then at Tyler before rolling her eyes and putting her dagger away. Though she still looked done with them both.

“Since your antics left me unable to finish the last two chapters of the book I was reading, I'll free you both in two hours,” Wednesday told them as she turned away walking to her desk to grab her book. “Try not to have too much fun,” Wednesday dryly quipped as she left the room.

Leaving both shifters trapped in circles unable to move and unable to speak as they were being punished for getting on Wednesday and practically the entire school's nerves.

After that incident though and after Wednesday freed them both it was smoother. Still bumpy and still full of growling and threats but smoother.

Soon enough but what felt like years later the school year ended and then came the wedding.

Enid was thrilled because she loved weddings and was even more thrilled since it was Wednesday’s but what she didn’t love was the groom Wednesday chose.

The Addams had their own traditions too so they didn’t get to go dress shopping and there would be no speeches but Enid could work with that.

She made sure to prepare a truly sappy emotional post about her blog that was pages long filled to the brim with pictures that Wednesday would hate.

Then Enid made sure to plan a bachelorette party to celebrate Wednesday’s last night of true freedom that was honestly just the two of them hanging out.

The boy who was her groom was forgotten for the rest of the night before the wedding as they were just two girls lost in their own antics.

Enid got them both drunk and forced Wednesday to watch the Monster High movies with her because they were her favorite and she knew Wednesday would hate them with a burning passion.

Wednesday looked disgusted and terrified as all these poorly portrayed monsters sang about love and romance as they saved the day over and over again with the power of friendship.

Watching Wednesday react was more fun than the movies which Enid’s seen a hundred times. Plus it was funny how every time Enid sang along Wednesday scooted away from her shivering.

Eventually Wednesday snapped and tried to lunge to turn the laptop off but Enid fought her off still singing along and laughing as she danced out of reach holding the laptop.

It was ridiculous and they were both tipsy and clumsy but it was fun and even Wednesday was barely smiling despite her annoyance.

When the morning came though and they both drank copious amounts of water before separating Enid was beyond eager to see Wednesday.

The moment Enid did though she wanted to cry and honestly she did tear up.

Wednesday looked like a gothic nightmare come to life and was absolutely stunning.

The dress Wednesday wore that she had told Enid came from her long since deceased family member Saturday Addams fit her like a glove. It looked like shadows had come to life and were cradling her body.

Little thorns made of lace were spread over the dress that started at the top of the dress and went down the body following her curves. Like she was being strangled alive.

The neckline of the dress was an antique collar that was almost Victorian that was long enough to cover enough skin but low enough to show the bite mark on Wednesday's neck clearly.

It had a slit on one side that showed a lacy garter with her pale lily white skin peeking through it. To top it all off she wore black ballet flats that were the darkest color black imaginable.

Wednesday’s face wasn’t done up to much, just her usual preferred eyeliner and deep blood red lipstick that looked like it had used real blood.

Still Wednesday looked beautiful and Enid in her over three hundred dollar dark red bridesmaid gown cried over her as she helped Wednesday fix her veil.

Wednesday rolled her eyes at her tears which only made her cry harder. Her best friend was getting married and she was allowed to cry alright!

The psychic sighed, patting her shoulder with the hand that had freshly done nails which would soon wear the ring that had once belonged to Calpurnia Addams.

Eventually though right before Gomez came to come and grab Wednesday to escort her Enid turned to look at Wednesday.

“Are you sure you don’t want to run?,” Enid tried to ask one last time to Wednesday who looked like a vision in her wedding dress. “I have a getaway car waiting just say the word.”

Enid knew the answer and honestly she wasn’t really in objection to the wedding anymore since Tyler did prove that he loved Wednesday but she was legally obligated to ask.

She did swear to herself to make things difficult for Tyler after all.

Wednesday looked extremely amused and ever so slightly fond as she reached out with the hand not holding the bouquet of dead and withered flowers that were a replica of the ones Tyler once gave her and squeezed Enid’s arm.

“Thank you for the offer. I appreciate it but I’m content where I am,” Wednesday told her with her dark eyes glittering.

It was hard to believe this was the same girl who stormed into Nevermore wearing large platform boots with a scowl telling her that she’d rather gargle nails than be friends with anyone or fall in love.

Wednesday really had grown and it made Enid want to cry all over again.

“Don’t suppose Addams believe in divorce?,” Enid sniffled as she tried not to cry, ruining her makeup for the second time.

“All Addams would rather be widows than divorcees so no,” Wednesday looked like she could laugh at the thought before she turned hearing her father approach.

“Tyler’s lucky to have you,” Enid told Wednesday, needing her to know that. “If he ever hurts you they’ll never find the body.”

Wednesday honest to god laughed. Like an actual short bark of laughter that showed her matching set of dimples before shaking her head.

“If Tyler ever hurts me it’s because I allowed him to be able to,” Wednesday smirked. “In the event of the unlikely scenario you pitched though it’s funny you think you’ll get to him before I do,” Wednesday told her before she walked to her father.

Enid could only sigh fondly because yeah that was definitely her best friend. With a smile on her lips Enid followed them and got in position.

The ceremony was grim, haunting, slightly traumatizing, and was like nothing Enid’s ever seen before. So in short it was a perfect Addams wedding.

From the speeches, to the threats, the couple bleeding into a chalice and then drinking it, the guests, and literally everything.

It was spooky, kooky, dark, beautiful and everything that Enid thought Wednesday would appreciate. Truly her besties mom and aunt did a great job.

Wednesday's family all looked like a wreck Enid noted.

Morticia and Ophelia like Enid had earlier looked teary eyed seeing Wednesday go through the motions of trying her soul to Tyler’s and Gomez hadn’t stopped sniveling since he first saw Wednesday.

Pugsley and Pubert were sitting to the side both looking teary eyed as they long since gotten over their little vendetta against Tyler and now thought the Hyde was the coolest thing ever according to Wednesday’s complaints.

Fester was seated beside Lurch crying in an ugly unattractive way. Thing was shaking slightly from his emotions and could only offer him tissues. Lurch for a reanimated corpse looked emotional too.

The Addams grandmama was cackling madly and would lean in to whisper inappropriate innuendos about the couple to anyone who would listen.

Enid pretends her werewolf ears didn’t hear that. No sir this werewolf was as deaf as could be as she didn’t want to hear about how much of beast Tyler would be in the sheets.

She’d rather die.

The rest of the large crowd of Addams all looked emotional in their own way. All different kinds of outcasts, normies married into the family, hunters, even the spirits of the dead looked moved.

The soul thing was another reason that made Enid completely done.

Addams really only knew the phrase go big or go home and weddings were apparently no different. Since they were home too they went as big as possible.

Still if anyone deserved a love so deep that it could never be buried or forgotten on a soul deep level Wednesday definitely earned it.

Enid’s favorite part of this entire thing though was how when Tyler saw Wednesday he cried. Tyler had looked gutted by the sight of Wednesday and honestly that more than anything assured her.

At least Enjd could trust Tyler to take care of Wednesday.

The werewolf watched as Tyler, still crying not even blinking as more tears fell, slipped the cursed looking ring onto Wednesday’s fingers.

Her best friend had shiny eyes and slid the matching dark band that looked just as cursed onto Tyler’s finger with precision.

Then Enid, as she had said in her phone call, watched them kiss wrinkling her nose in disgust as Tyler dipped her best friend and tried to eat Wednesday alive starting with her mouth.

She rolled her eyes, her lips smiling though as she watched as every Addams and singular Frump cheered, yowled, shrieked, screamed and howled loud enough to wake the dead.

Bringing a hand to her mouth Enid howled along with the Addams. Cheering not for Tyler but for Wednesday and her future happiness.

What can Enid say? The energy was contagious.

Though Enid could have done without seeing Tyler smirk wickedly, his eyes glowing amber eyes as he scooped Wednesday up into his arms running back to the manor to no doubt rip that dress off her.

All Addams only laughed, jeered and shouted at them as they threw dead and dried flower powers in the hair. Enid sighed, shaking her head as she fished a couple out of her hair.

Enid looked down at the flowers in her palm and closed her fist around them holding to her chest as she turned and made her way to Ophelia.

After all, Enid threatened to make a post full of two years worth of blackmail so sappy and embarrassing and what better things to add to it than with additional material from her best friend's aunt.

Ophelia Frump was only more than happy to help as with a mischievous smile she leaned in and began to tell her all about the things Wednesday and Tyler did and pulled out her phone to send Enid some pictures.

Along with some truly embarrassing photos Ophelia snapped at Enid’s request of the couple but mainly most of them were of Tyler.

Enid smiled as she listened, giving a quick look at the manor where her best friend disappeared inside before giving Ophelia her full attention.

After all her congratulatory wedding post that was also her blackmail dump and Tyler roast wouldn’t write and upload itself.

Notes:

Some people asked for this so I hope I did my best to deliver! It was fun writing since I never really do Enid’s POV that often.

Let’s give a round of applause to the happy couple and our favorite long suffering werewolf! Still Weyler earned their unhappily ever after.
