Summary
Emmrich Volkarin has always understood that love and grief are intertwined.
Then, Seren is born. She is the daughter he never expected to have—the unexpected outcome of Ivy’s return—and the brightest little soul he has ever held in his arms. As Seren grows from a curious child into a woman with her own life and family, Emmrich cherishes each ordinary moment: first steps, bedtime stories, challenging questions, fierce arguments, small acts of kindness, and all the quiet ways a child matures into adulthood while her father struggles to comprehend where the years have gone.
This is a story about fatherhood, mortality, and the ache of loving someone so deeply that you realise you cannot keep them forever.
