Work Text:
Scott had almost forgotten that tonight was a celebratory summer night, a night where their neighbors would surely be setting off fireworks to celebrate. That was until the first few fireworks were set off, the sound of them easily bouncing in through the open window.
The elf gets up from his desk, shutting the window, the sound a little distracting.
He goes back to his work, pressing play on his music.
After a bit, he heard knocking on his door and he paused the music, “Come in.”
The door creaks open and Martyn’s head pops into his room, golden retriever ears pinned back, “Scott…”
Ren’s face pops in, resting above Martyn’s head, chin resting on his head, his ears pinned back too.
“Is something up?” Scott asks, hoping nothing broke.
Another firework goes off outside and Martyn and Ren both jump at the noise cringing.
Martyn lets go of the door handle, going to cover his ears with his hands, and now Scott can see his tail is deep between his legs.
The two dog hybrids whimper at the sound as a second firework goes off.
That’s when it clicks, dogs don’t like fireworks, Ren and Martyn have dog instincts in them.
“What’s wrong?" He asks, trying to double check his theory.
“It’s too loud out there dude.” Ren says.
“I hate fireworks.” Martyn says, “Ever since I was a pup.“, Ren nods, sharing that sentiment.
Scott opens up a drawer in his desk, pulling out a little box of foam earplugs, “Would you guys like a pair of these?”
Both of his partners nod, coming over.
Scott takes two pairs out, handing a pair to each dog hybrid.
The two of them take a minute, putting them in.
Both of their tails are still tucked between their legs, clearly still on edge from the fireworks.
“Do you two want to cuddle?” Scott asks them, hoping that would help alleviate some of their stress.
They both nod enthusiastically.
Scott takes a hand from both of them, one each, walking down the hall to Martyn’s room, the most soundproofed room in their whole house (since Martyn tends to record videos in there).
Scott leads his partners inside, Ren shutting the door behind them, and leads them to the blond’s bed.
The three of them lay down there, Scott, caringly taking the blankets off the bed, wrapping them tightly around the three of them.
He opens up his phone, scrolling through his playlists before putting one goes, k. By Cigarets After Sex, a more gentle and quiet song, perfect for the three of them to relax with.
The elf slides his right hand into Ren’s hair, softly scratching at the base of his ears, gently running his hands through brown locks as the brunet buries his face into Scott’s side, curling up beside him, brown tail curled along the back of his legs.
Martyn practically laps in Scott’s lap, right hand holding onto Scott’s shirt as he too curls up under the blanket.
Scott rests his left hand on Martyn’s head, gently playing with his hair, just like Ren’s.
The moment feels intimate and gentle.
Scott would not trade it for the world.
