"My rival.”
Light, I just know he's Kira. Everything matches up too perfectly.
Light had been on a date with a girl at the time a bus was hijacked. The bus Raye Penber had been on, only to die later, without the files. All other FBI agents died too near that time. We can easily suspect that Kira took the files to kill them all.
Even the time that he met Misa Misa. She had become suspected only after she met Light. His own family said that Misa just showed up one day and acted like she had always been Light's girlfriend.
I still don't have enough evidence though. It should be obvious. I'm L, the L. I've stopped WWIII and I have solved hundreds of cases. But no, my word isn't enough to convict the main suspect.
“My idol.”
It's even more suspicious how a famous idol, Misa Misa, is randomly dating a 16 year old boy in another district. Directly after the second Kira had been recognized as separate from the first one. She had been scheduled to go on a tour that's not in Japan, but stayed behind only for the man who killed her parents to die.
Misa and Light ending up together is also random. Sure, in the future it could happen. But Light was barely out of high school when they started to date. Misa is rich, very beautiful, and I'm sure has better suitors. Even though Light is very attractive and smart himself he's never even been in a serious relationship with a girl before. You'd think someone like Misa would go after someone older or someone with more experience or wealth.
“You got me suicidal.”
This case is almost impossible. Kira is killing with heart attacks. That could be more reasonable if it was that something was tampered with. Though it's happening all over Japan. No single person can travel Japan in a few hours. Kira has even killed prisoners in his security facilities. There's no way somebody could tamper something there.
I've already failed by having to make the taskforce. My only purpose in life is to serve justice. This is the first time it's been a challenge to find justice.
Kira must be using some special source. Or maybe Kira has associates all around Japan. With how many supporters there must be people who'd join Kira willingly.
“My love, your rage.”
In order to find Kira we must find his rage. Find his ideals, the reason the people love him so. His rage seems to be the reason. While some deaths by Kira seem calculated, others seem like they're emotional. It seems Kira has a rage that pushes him to kill criminals.
The love comes from his supporters. With multiple celebrities being Kira supporters the public is seeing it as socially acceptable to love Kira.
Matsuda has told me all about how popular Kira is. Online forums, art of what they think Kira looks like, people posting photos of horrible criminals for Kira to find, people making shrines, even those who claim to see Kira as God,
“Our dying claim to fame.”
Misa Amane, one of the idols who claims to be Kira's supporter, and that she dreams to be Kira's wife. We know that the killer of her parents died of a heart attack, assumingly from Kira. It seems that she believes Kira personally saved her.
Light Yagami started dating Misa Amane a short while before we assumed her to be the second Kira. He's our main suspect.
Light Yagami is popular too. He's not popular in the way an actor or idol would be. Though he's widely known for being the smartest high school student in Japan when he graduated. I first met him during his graduation.
“Our battle legendary.
I seem to be at an impasse with Light. He's my main suspect. However, I'm told I lack the needed evidence to arrest him. Mostly by Soichiro Yagami, his father, and the rest of the taskforce. It seems Light is manipulating them into seeing him as the perfect college student.
Light, by the rest of the taskforce, is a kind strong soul who will become a great detective. The other taskforce members tell him he'll probably become the next chief of police. He acts polite but firm, is already much more serious than Matsuda, and is able to keep up with me. If he was at Wammy's he'd probably be my choice as a successor, that's if he wasn't Kira.
“Our fickle fraternizing.”
Light tells me at times I have too many mood swings. That it's almost impossible to know what I think. That I easily go from excited, well as much as I can get, to eerily monotone.
However, Light will act strangely for his age. During the period where there were cameras in the Yagami household he seemed to be unaffected by the porno magazines he was reading. Which is unusual for boys his age. Usually while looking at naked women they play with their willy.
Despite owning porno magazines he never seems to be all that happy about having Misa Amane as his girlfriend. Even though I don't feel attraction to her it's obvious she fills the demographic for an attractive woman in Japan
She has blonde hair, reasonably short, and just seen as attractive by most people. Yet Light seems to treat her as an inconvenience. Which highly contradicts his usually personality that everyone should be treated fairly.
“A war inside my heart.”
I know I'm right about Light being Kira, yet it seems nobody else believes me. Other taskforce members will even tell me I might be wrong, or that we should wait a bit longer. Especially Soichiro and Matsuda.
While I am correct there's always the possibility that Light is trying to be suspicious on purpose so that he'll be a suspect. I've seen cases before where a person will pretend to be a suspect and pretend like they're not. Usually it's either because of a payoff, threat, or they're just mentally unwell.
Light's family has enough money, and with Misa Amane as his girlfriend he's in no need to worry about money. Light isn't diagnosed with anything. No neurodivergence or personality disorders. However if I asked his parents to send him to a psychiatrist they might stubbornly refuse. It also depends on Light, as of now he's over 16. In Japan, it means he has control over how to control his mental health. The only way to actually get him to do that without worry of him quitting the case all together would be if it was ordered by a court. Yet if it's ordered by a court he may lie his way through the assessment.
A threat wouldn't seem that effective. He wasn't that worried during the bus hijacking. Even if he was threatened he could tell his father, the taskforce, or even me and we could swiftly arrest the suspect. Unless he happened to be manipulated. Yet Light seems too smart to be manipulated.
It's either he's Kira, or mentally unwell.
“Until — — do us part.”
I know that I'll die from this case. Either as I catch Kira or before. Kira can kill with a name and a face. Light is one of the few people who knows my face. All it takes is for him to figure out my name.
My name is one of the best kept secrets in this entire world. Even better than the existence of aliens on Earth. Me, Watari, and I guess whoever my biological parents were are the only people who know it. Watari, and I know how to keep a secret. Watari is a professional who has been one of the smartest men alive for years. He keeps many different government secrets. Not to mention he'd probably die of old age before he'd tell someone my name.
I am the world's greatest detective. I have made sure nothing could make me admit my name. My alcohol intolerance is high enough that if I were drunk I'd only slightly indulge in Matsuda's jokes, or maybe be less coordinated.
The only loose ends are my biological parents. I already know who my mother is, she had died during childbirth which gave me a record of her name. Luckily I seem to have taken my father's name so it isn't information just any nurse in that hospital could find.
Though my father. I know nothing about him. My mother was in a marriage with another man at the time of my birth, but that man is not my father. The man who was my mother's husband had brown hair, and blue eyes. My mother had brown hair and green eyes. It would be an anomaly if I was born from his genes combined with hers.
My mother seemed to have kept her affair very well hidden.
She actually did have a confirmed affair at the time of my birth. But that man was dark skinned, with dark brown hair and eyes. He was said to be African American. My genes are a quarter Japanese, a quarter British, a quarter German, and a quarter Russian or Italian. I have no genes from Africa or modern America.
There's also not much information about my mother's personal life. She was a house wife, she and her husband lived in England, in a house farther away from the closest town. Her husband would go to work for long hours everyday. Because she lived farther away I don't know how many different men could've come to her house.
It seems that my father wasn't present at my birth. So I was sent to an orphanage. They don't have my name on file anymore because Watari helped me delete them. Not a single child or adult there remembered my name.
The only loose end is my father. However he may not have ever known my mother was pregnant, he could be dead, or he could have been informed of the baby's name by my mother's husband.
If Kira finds my biological father then there's a chance Kira will kill me if he doesn't find my name in a different way.
