"So, what do you think?"
What a loaded question to be asking her. Daisy didn't answer at first as she stared into the mirror at her own reflection, her rectangular pupils unnaturally dilated. They shifted down to her figure donned in a similar maid dress from their quick softball adventure, only this time the base and shoes were more of a milky pink hue instead of jet black. The hat, lace, apron, gloves, and socks were still snow white and free of any dirt or debris, so pristine-looking on someone like her. She swallowed, ignoring how the cartoonish lump visibly forming in her throat momentarily looked like the Adam's apple she hated so much in real life. Wait, was she supposed to be answering a question? "Huh?"
Pomni laughed, not mockingly despite her mind trying to say otherwise. "I asked what you think. I tried my best since I've gotten better at the whole conjuring thing, but I want your honest opinion." The "since you were gone" hung silently in the air. Neither wanted to think about the abstraction that had nearly consumed the purple rabbit for good. "Well? Give me a twirl if you want to really see if it suits you!"
"You'd like that, wouldn't you?" she snarked, falling back into their usual banter. She still obliged, spinning on her toe in place and watching the skirt fly. She didn't see the soft smile on her own face beyond that sight, but her friend certainly did. She looked up to catch her staring, quickly looking away. "What?"
"Nothing," the jester murmured, "it's just that I thought you looked really happy. Maybe happier than I've ever seen you." She spoke carefully as if she was afraid she'd run away if she said the wrong thing, and she definitely didn't want Daisy to be left alone after what happened last time. "You look really good, Jax. I'm so glad you're trusting me to help you through all of this. Just know you're not alone, and I'm sure the others will give you all the same things I have once you're ready to tell them."
Daisy didn't like feeling vulnerable, but she was trying to embrace it being something necessary at times. "Can you call me Daisy when we're alone?" she requested, not meaning to sound as shy as she did. "I don't think Jax really suits me anymore."
Pomni nodded, looking thoughtful. "Daisy," she mused, "like how we sang Daisy Bell outside of Zooble's room that one time?"
"I'd like to think that's just a coincidence," she deflected smoothly. The slight flush on her cheeks, however, was not one to be deflected. Truth be told, it was quite a fond memory for her. Her and Pomni had actually felt like friends for the first time that day, not that she said it then. "You don't have to look at me like that, Pompom. People might talk."
"Look at you like what?" She tilted her head, the bells on her stupid hat jingling slightly. Damned if she didn't want to grasp at them. "How am I looking at you?"
Chewing on her bottom lip, Daisy glanced up from boring holes into her Mary Janes. "Like I'm you're whole world or something corny like that." She regretted it as soon as she said it, but there was nowhere to run as she was trapped against the wall next to the mirror, pale arms on either side of her. She was taller and could barrel through the poor attempt at caging her in if she really wanted, but with a defeated sigh she accepted her fate. They stood in silence for a few moments, so at least she wasn't the only one struggling to form words.
"You could be my whole world," Pomni whispered. "If you'd let me see you that way, Daisy, I'd like that very much." She had the cutest, most hopeful look on her determined face as they locked eyes. "What do you say?"
"I say I'm going to reiterate how corny you are. Did it take you very long to come up with that line for me, sweet cheeks? Are you proud of yourself for that one?" She snickered at her pouting mouth and reddening face which served to make her even more frustrated. "What's wrong, you upset I'm not taking this seriously for once in my life? Are you just - mmph?!"
Pulling her into a bruising kiss by the collar the shorter of the two women had to stand on her tiptoes a bit to do so. She fisted her gloved hand into the delicate fabric of the dress, maybe even snagging a few indigo strands of fur in the process based on the low grunt from her partner. Was it out of pain, pleasure, or both? Did she even really care at the time? Evidently not as Daisy slowly returned the kiss in a way that showed she may be a bit inexperienced. Pomni reached her free hand up to grasp one of her long rabbit ears, nearly jumping out of her skin at the vibrations in her mouth and throat. It took her only seconds to realize she was purring from the treatment, and she giggled into the kiss. Daisy chomped on her lip in displeasure hard enough to make her reel back in shock, yelping. "Daisy!"
"I'm not a vegetarian anymore, baby," Daisy cooed. "I can eat some other things as well."
Pomni snorted at the implication, a hand on her hip. "Oh, please. If I took you up on that you wouldn't even know where to begin. You think I don't have you pegged for what you are? You're inexperienced."
She sputtered, scooping up her little clown and laughing maniacally. "You're going to pay for calling me a virgin, Pompom! We're not leaving my room until I've finally put you in your place once and for all!" She poked her side, delighted in the squeak it produced. "Any special requests I may or may not fulfil on this night you will never forget for the rest of your life?"
"Leave the dress on," she growled, and off they went to the dorm rooms.
