Work Text:
The thrumming of the club was not necessarily Apollo's usual scene, but he supposed the music could be worse. The pack of people swarming the dance floor were jumping and swaying back and forth to the beat, yelling out lyrics to the songs and cheering as the tracks were changed. As much as Apollo didn't mind a loud environment, the sweaty bodies knocking into each other had become a bit much for him and he needed a breather. For now, he had taken a respite at a standing table near the open door to take advantage of the fresh air, nursing a drink for so long that the ice had significantly watered it down. Suddenly, someone slid in next to him and he flinched.
"Hey, party boy," Ema smirked, having tracked him down from where he left her on the dance floor. She had forgone her usual lab coat and business-casual wear for a green cropped tanktop and high waisted pants. She was in the middle of tying her hair up messily, a few bracelets clinking on her wrists. "You tapping out already?"
"No, just needed a break," Apollo half-shouted, their voices swallowed up by the music. "Enjoying yourself?"
"Oh yeah," Ema laughed, her cheeks flushed a bright pink. "I needed to get absolutely tanked after this week." She raised her newly acquired drink to him. "To terrible work-life balance!"
"I'll drink to that," Apollo admitted with a laugh, before they both took sizeable swigs. As the song changed and the crowd screamed, the comment that Ema made right next to him was obliterated by the noise. "What?"
"Looks like your boyfriend is having a great time," she shouted, pointing off into the writhing bodies on the dance floor. Apollo followed her gaze and scanned through the crowd until his eyes settled on a blonde head of hair sitting a few inches higher than most others.
Of course, Klavier had taken the opportunity to dress as his heart desired, which had involved a lot of denim and mesh. His long hair had been tied back in a loose bun, artfully messy even as it became more and more disheveled. A black mesh shirt showed off his toned chest underneath and ended just above the waistband of his black jeans, ripped and torn at the knees and thighs. A studded belt was secured at his waist with silver chains and purple beads dangling off of it and matching purple earrings studded his ears. Having forgone his usual large G necklace, he instead wore a simpler silver chain. He was grinning broadly as he raised his arms and danced, wrists clad in leather bracelets and his signature rings glittering on his fingers. His broad smile was lined in a deep shade of lipstick and his eyes were ringed in black and a hint of red. He had winked at Apollo as he had applied it earlier that evening, before commenting, "I'm keeping a bit of you with me, liebling."
Watching him now, Apollo felt the same heat curl in his stomach as his eyes lingered on Klavier jumping and dancing, shouting along with the words. As if sensing his gaze, Klavier caught his eyes and his smile grew even wider. He blew a kiss towards Apollo, who smiled in response and gave a small wave in return. Wiggling his eyebrows at him, Klaver beckoned him with his splayed fingers, swaying his hips back and forth with the music. Even with a pleased zing winding through him at the attention, Apollo rolled his eyes at the dramatic gesture as he held up his drink in one hand and a single finger in the other, signaling he would return in a minute. Klavier winked at him and turned his attention back to the music.
"Boo, you guys are gross," Ema called out, shoving Apollo's shoulder and failing to conceal her cheesy grin with mock disgust. "How dare you guys be in love and stuff, it's sickening. He doesn't get on your nerves at all?"
"Constantly," Apollo replied, snickering. Her words were starting to slur together a little and he made a mental note to dissuade her from any more drinks. "But it's nothing all that serious. If I told him to back off and I meant it, he'd know and he'd do it."
"Shockingly, I believe that," Ema said, her words slurring slightly. "But man, having that fop all to yourself? I couldn't imagine having that much glimmerous loverboy crap directed at me."
"Glad to see you think so highly of my choices," Apollo called out dryly over his drink. "It's not like that either, he-" He paused mid sip as he caught something on the dance floor again. Klavier had a few people mingling around him, but he was clearly interacting with two. A young woman, maybe a year older than Apollo, was facing him as they danced alongside each other. The flashing lights glinted off her round glasses and a smirk painted her red lips as she mouthed the lyrics along with Klavier, who was grinning back at her. He reached out to take her hand, spinning her around in the limited space. Behind him, a tall man swayed along with them, his black hair slicked back and bare arms covered in winding tattoos. He seemed to say something to Klavier over his shoulder, who leaned back and raised an eyebrow at whatever was said before replying and gesturing along with his words with a flick of his hand. As the crowd jostled together, Klavier was knocked back against the man's chest and quickly righted himself with what seemed like a jovial apology. The tall man smirked and steadied him with a single hand and Klavier rolled his eyes playfully, still talking as he returned to moving along to the beat.
"You were saying?" Ema asked, raising an eyebrow over her drink.
Against his better judgement, Apollo felt something hot and ugly rear its head inside of him. He hesitated before replying, "He's like that with everyone."
"Uh huh," Ema smirked skeptically.
She said something else, but nothing reached Apollo's ears as his eyes stayed locked on Klavier. The woman dancing with him leant in to shout over the music and Klavier bent forward to listen. He nodded to whatever was said and replied with a grin before the woman started to shift through the crowd. As she moved away, the man behind Klavier slid even closer into his space, a tattooed hand starting to wind over his chest. Apollo's nostrils flared and he gripped his cup so hard that the plastic crunched in protest. Drowned out by the noise and distance, Klavier appeared to say something and tried to turn around, but his body jerked closer and Apollo was certain that the other man's hand had pulled him in, pressing him back in an attempt to grind against him. Even with the loud environment, his perceptive abilities were locking in on every point of contact between the two of them and his bracelet squeezed almost painfully hard on his wrist. White-hot fury pulsed through Apollo's blood as the man's head tipped closer, pierced lips moving close to Klavier's ear.
"Oh boy, easy, Apollo," Ema said apprehensively, not having noticed the scene unfolding yet. "Take a breath."
Apollo looked down to see his cup completely crushed, liquid spilling over his hand and dripping onto the floor. With a grumble, he chucked the wad of plastic away and looked back up to see Klavier had pushed himself free of the man on the dance floor, who was looking less than pleased about it. In the middle of Klavier gesturing as he spoke, the man's hand grasped his wrist forcefully, pulling him back as they both exchanged heated words.
"Ugh, what a dick- Hey!" Ema called out as Apollo stormed past her into the fray of the dance floor. The music had turned into something bassy and low, which pulsed in his head as he roughly pushed through the crowd. When he was a few paces away, Klavier caught sight of him and his tense face turned to relief. Yet, after registering Apollo's expression, Klavier's shifted into alarm. Before Klavier could say anything more, Apollo had grabbed the stranger's wrist to break his grip, perhaps a little harder than he needed to, before pushing his arm away.
"Hey, what's your problem?" the man protested, looking down at Apollo with disdain.
"You stay the fuck away from him," Apollo snarled, pointing a finger into the man's chest.
"Schatzi-" Klavier started cautiously as the stranger spoke again.
"Mind your own business, half-pint," the stranger grimaced at him, before turning back to Klavier. "Thought you wanted to dance?"
"I told you to let go," Klavier bit back sharply, shouting over the music as he folded his arms.
The man sighed and rolled his eyes, the stench of alcohol still on his breath. He tried to step forward and Apollo shoved between them, extending an arm back to guard Klavier as his heart pounded in his ears. "He said no, asshole. Get that through your thick skull."
Eyes flaring in rage, the man reeled back and Apollo braced himself to block a punch, but the arm was grabbed by someone just out of view.
"Ok, man, I think it's time for you to leave." A muscular woman with short-cut hair and snakebite piercings was glaring at the man as she yanked him away. "We don't tolerate this shit." As the man spluttered about how she didn't know anything, the woman looked back to Apollo and Klavier. "Saw all that. You guys alright?" They both nodded. "Good. Check in with the bar if you need anything. Y'all enjoy your night." Without another word, she practically dragged the man away.
Klavier heaved out a sigh, his posture relaxing. "Mein gott, you'd think this was a straight bar," he chuckled, slinging an arm around Apollo's shoulder and pulling him close. However, he recieved no response. "Liebling?"
Apollo's chest was heaving, still seeing red as he forcefully breathed out of his nose. His brain still swam with alcohol and he raged at the idea that someone, anyone felt entitled to put their hands on Klavier when told otherwise. The imposing thrumming of the dance floor seemed to fade into the background, a dull haze in contrast to Klavier's affectionate smile. Even though he was leaning so close that Apollo could feel the plume of Klavier's breath and the hands on his shoulders, he still seemed too far away for his liking. He needed him close, everywhere, now. Seizing upon his only impulse in the moment, he grabbed the front of Klavier's shirt firmly in both hands and pulled him down as he leaned up. Their lips crashed together in a bruising kiss as Klavier let out a noise of surprise. He quickly relaxed into Apollo's hold, his arm that encircled Apollo's shoulders clutching him firmly as his other hand dropped to his hip. Hand fisted even tighter into Klavier's shirt with a growl, Apollo practically devoured him, swallowing every shaky breath. The music pulsed through his body as his teeth nipped at Klavier's lip and his tongue swept into his mouth. Every little push made Klavier shivering and pliant against him, except for his tightening grip on Apollo's hip and shoulders. Finally breaking apart, they were both breathing hard, barely a hair's breadth away from each other.
"Fuck that guy," Apollo seethed, his lips brushing Klavier's as he spoke.
"Yeah," Klavier agreed breathlessly.
Through his tipsy haze, the knowledge flashed into Apollo's mind that he may have just forced himself onto Klavier in the same way that had just flooded him with rage only moments ago. "Sorry," he said hastily as he leant back, but still staying close enough to where Klavier could hear him over the music. "I'm sorry, that was a lot, I should have checked in with you first."
"Uh," Klavier stuttered, coming back to himself before wrapping his arms more securely around Apollo with a quiet laugh, "Nein, don't apologize, not at all! I- I quite liked it," he admitted, his smile a perfect mix of eager and shy that made Apollo's stomach do a backflip.
"Still, I don't want to push it. You sure you're alright?"
With a tender smile, Klavier's hand absently traced the lines of Apollo's back. "Yes, schatzi, I'm perfectly fine. You are the only one at your liberty to kiss me whenever and wherever you want, unless I say otherwise."
Apollo nodded, the flush of embarassment still burning his face. "Ok. Good."
Klavier bit at his own lip, suppressing a smile as he teased at Apollo's hair with a finger. "Has anyone told you how cute you are when you're jealous!"
"I'm not-" Apollo began irritably before stopping at Klavier's quirked eyebrow and knowing look. "Ok, fine. Sure," he admitted with a sigh. "That's what I get for having an attractive boyfriend, I guess."
Klavier's smile turned on full blast, grinning wider than Apollo had ever seen. "Is that so? Do tell me more," he encouraged giddily.
"No way," Apollo snorted, shoving his face away gently. "I'm not inflating your ego any more. Are we dancing or what? Before I change my mind."
"I'd be more than happy if you're joining me," Klavier winked, before grabbing Apollo's hand and pulling him back into the crowd.
