Work Text:
"The name's Althaia, and I'm a Vampire." His eyes were wide as he introduced himself.
"I know, I could smell you two streets back there." Bakari laughed. He was sitting naked, covered in the vampire's towel, that also smelled like him.
"Oh, right." His eyes never relaxed, still as wide as they were when he came into the living room and found Bakari naked as the day he was born…several centuries ago.
"You're a werewolf" He finally blurted the quiet part out loud.
"I know. You're a vampire." Bakari shot back.
"I know." Althaia nodded. They were in agreement.
"I'm also a professor and archivist at the museum." Bakari attempted to introduce himself further.
"I run the flower nursery downstairs." His eyes finally relaxed, Bakari noticed a red streak in his brown iris'. It was probably close to his feeding phase.
"I don't think i ever got your name, Mr. Professor." Bakari almost found the title adorable before he stopped himself.
"Bakari." He paused "do you have any food?" He paused again and before Althaia could answer he added "not dog food." Althaia's mouth closed at that, he got up.
"I might, I don't normally eat human food when my cycle allows me to. It's either too overstimulating or too sugary. I'm not a fruit bat for a reason."
Bakari laughed at that.
Althaia came back into the living room with a dusty can of peaches.
"I don't know how long this has been in here but you can have it."
Why did i have to go and get adopted by a vampire he thought as he graciously accepted the can of probably expired peaches.
"You know, Bakari, I can hear your thoughts." Althaia slid onto the couch as he wiggled his eyebrows at the werewolf.
His cheeks flushed, "don't do that."
"Sometimes i cant help it, it's almost time for my cycle to start again."
"I knew it."
"I know you knew it." He paused, "are you some smarty about other immortals or something?" he had a suspicious glint in his eye.
"I like to study our collective species, like anthropologists who like to study their collective ancestor." He adjusted his towel "It's my hobby."
"Neato." Was the vampire's response, his pupils were like a cat's, huge saucers of black ink. They drew Bakari in, he realized he was under the microscope of one of the fiercest predators in their kingdom, and it was almost dinner time. he looked away. Without meaning to, his cheeks flushed again.
"Do you have any clothes i could, uhm, borrow?" He interrupted the game Althaia was playing in his head.
"Clothes? Yes, of course i have some of those." He laughed as he ran into the room adjacent to the living room. He came back out within seconds of being gone, a stack of old, dusty and moth-eaten clothes piled together in his arms.
"I don't wear these anymore." He smiled, his fangs visible for the first time since Bakari woke up.
"Well thank you, do you mind if i use your bathroom to change?"
"No, not at all. It's right next to my bedroom." He dropped the pile into Bakari's lap.
"Thank you."
Althaia slumped back down onto the couch as Bakari got up, the werewolf adjusted his towel so that it was tied tight against his waist, his chest exposed, claw marks, hair and all. he grabbed the pile with one hand effortlessly and walked into the bathroom.
Althaia kept his gaze low until his guest had passed the couch, he let himself get one glance before averting his gaze completely. he cursed himself as he felt his cheeks flush. Even in his per-feeding-stage stage he could feel the residual blood slosh around in him.
Bakari came out of the bathroom smoothing down his slacks. Black slacks and a green sweater that incidentally made his eyes pop. Althaia could see a glint of what he saw in the wolf he brought home last night. a purple streak in his iris that you wouldn't see in any normal professor. You also wouldn't see it even if you were looking for it but..Althaia was nearing 10,000 so he knew the work around.
"How do i look?"
Althaia bit his lip.
"And the rest is history!" Bakari interjects as they recount their first meeting to their audience of one.
"Althaia i want to know the rest! I want all the juicy details!!" The person, Arion, whined.
"No, Bakari is right, it really is meant for the history books, and anyway don't you have a date?" he laughed and Arion stood up from their table.
"Shit! You're right! Okay i will see you both later to debrief." He pointed to them like that was a binding deal.
"Okay have fun, be careful."
"I will!" He shouted from the door
Bakari sighed and rested his head on Althaia's shoulder. the rest was history.
