Work Text:
With a brisk knock, the door to the Wright Anything Agency was opened quickly in a flash of purple. "Guten abend, legal eagles," Klavier called out with a dazzling smile, waving to the occupants of the office.
"Hiya Klavier!" Athena returned his greeting, looking up from her work with a peace sign. "How's it going?"
"Ach, can't complain, you know how it is," Klavier winked. "You're well?"
"I'll be better when I go home," she groaned, slumping over her mountain of paperwork like a pillow. Widget beeped around her neck and said, Kill me now, muffled by the stacks of papers she was now using as a pillow.
"Do you have a reason for stopping by or was it just to make the day longer?" grumbled a voice.
Klavier turned his head with a mischevious smile to see a disgruntled Apollo eyeing him over a cup of coffee. "Oh, your day lasts longer while I'm here, liebling? I'm flattered."
"Don't be," Apollo replied flatly. "I meant that you're either boring or distracting, take your pick."
"Come now, Herr Forehead, you know that I'm anything but boring. And a dazzling man such as myself can't not be distracting, nein?"
Athena propped up her chin on her stack of papers and watched with amusement as their sentences hit back and forth like a game of tennis. Widget buzzed Pass the popcorn, and she gave it a light tap in admonishment.
"So, are you actually here for any reason or is it just to waste my time?" Apollo asked, pointedly looked up at the prosecutor leaning over his desk.
"Ah yes, I do have the file you requisitioned from the prosecutor's office," Klavier snapped his fingers, untucking the file from under his arm. "Normally, I don't make a habit of bringing things around like a lowly bank runner, but I had to make an exception to sehen Sie Ihr süßes gesicht persönlich."
A surprised noise sounded from across the room and Klavier snapped out of his flirtatious smirk as he looked over to see Athena holding back a smile and eyeing him curiously.
Ah.
He had to get used to the fact that he was no longer the only German speaker around aside from Herr Edgeworth. More so than that, he had to watch what he was saying. Klavier winked at Athena and tapped his lip twice in a little signal to keep it quiet. She was very much failing to hide her smile and gave him a knowing look before pretending to be very engrossed in her paperwork.
"What are-" Apollo stopped himself before holding up both hands with a resigned sigh. "I actually don't want to know. Is that all you're here for?"
Klavier gasped in mock shock, pulling the file back before Apollo could take it. "Ah schatzi, that's it? No thanks for me? Am I only a pretty face and a gofer to you?" He pouted, laying a hand over his heart with his most woeful expression. "I'm hurt, truly." The corner of his mouth twitched up in a smirk, unable to hide the fun he was having as he leaned over the attorney, waiting patiently for a response.
Apollo rolled his eyes with a sarcastic smile. "Yeah, fine, thank you. Now, pass me the file, will you, princess?"
In an instant, Klavier froze. His breath paused in his chest and heat rushed through him, zipping up his body like a flash of lightning. He swallowed hard, throat suddenly dry as all thoughts emptied from his mind.
"Klavier? Hello?" Apollo prompted, making a grabbing motion with his outstretched hand. "Are you handing it over or not?" Still a little distracted by his own rapid heartbeat, Klavier mutely passed over the folder and Apollo eyed him suspiciously. "You ok?"
"Mhm!" Klavier answered, straightening up with a quickly crafted smile. "Just great. Well, thank you, good luck with your case!" With a wave goodbye to the attorneys, he quickly slipped out and shut the door.
Apollo turned to Athena with a puzzled look. "What was that all about?"
Athena's eyebrows were raised all the way up to her hairline and Widget buzzed furiously around her neck. The paper she was holding was scrunched beyond repair. "Oh, it was probably nothing."
"You're such a liar," Apollo grumbled at her.
"N-no! I've never lied before in my life!"
"Athena, I can feel you lying literally right now!"
Outside the door, Klavier leaned back against the wall, forcing himself to take a deep breath. "Get it together," he muttered, clapping a hand against his flushed face. "You're Klavier Gavin, verdammt, you can't be all out of sorts over such a..."
Princess
The word in Apollo's voice wormed its way into Klavier's brain, crafting all sorts of scenarios. Said sarcastically, but with a hint of teasing. Chidingly, as he playfully shoved Klavier's shoulder. Softly, against Klavier's lips as he was pulled in closer...
Klavier's eyes shot back open as a sigh shuddered out of him. He covered his face with his hands, eyes peeking out between his fingers. "Oh no."
