"Everyone talked about summer break like it was freedom, like taking a breath of fresh air after being surrounded by dirty, polluted air. To Lovino, summer was just an empty space, an opportunity for suffering, a relapse, painting, a couple more relapses, and sleeping. Everyone around him seemed to be moving forward. Getting better grades, part time jobs, new skills and hobbies, hell, some of his older friends were in the process of getting their licenses. He was just standing still. Doing nothing but sulking and painting."
