Work Text:
It had been vorns since Optimus had met Bumblebee, anybot would have made an attachment by now.
But he truly couldn’t imagine a life without the little bot beside him.
The bot embodied his coincidental earth namesake perfectly.
From his appearance due to his tiny stature and slightly rounded build,
to his plating color of a warm golden yellow with black accents.
But it wasn’t just the appearance that made the Prime think this, it was what a bumblebee symbolized on earth as well.
From how hard he worked to prove himself to others to how well he worked with others, with his kindness letting him easily get along with any team he was placed for any task. If for some strange reason the team didn’t work, truly it was never Bumblebees fault. Optimus supposed that not everybody could simply understand Bee’s sweet character, those poor bots.
The little bot truly did inspire community and friendship within the autobots ranks.
But even placed in less then accepting teams his dear little bot remained kind and far more often then not, prosperous in his missions and tasks.
Just like a bumblebee on earth remains a symbol of prosperity in humans life’s, Bumblebee remained a symbol of hope by Optimuses side.
Vital to the autobot community in the way a bumblebee was vital to earth’s ecosystem and survival. Where would earth be without their bee’s pollination. Where would Optimus be without his Bee’s trust and company.
He didn’t even want to think of it.
Human had a sentiment turned cause called “Save the Bees.” on it.
As the way earth had developed in certain parts, primarily agriculture, had had negative impacts on their dear species.
Optimus found a strange understanding in the name of that cause and how it developed.
How would his dear Bumblebee’s life have changed if the war had never started, or ended long before he had been forged somewhere.
Instead the development of the war and its weapons put his sweet Bumblebee and the very cybertronian race in deep risk and danger.
So he felt a deep sense of right when he read the term “Save the Bees.”
Although for him it was just one Bee.
As the war would stop for no bot, civilian or not due to the deceptions distaste for neutrality almost as high as their distaste for autobots.
He couldn’t be blamed if he kept the little bot by him, safe by his side. Servos in servos to make sure the bot didn’t run too far ahead oh him.
Optics always watching to step in should an enemy be near or the autobots get too rowdy and he needed to pull Bee from the tussle.
He looked down at the little bot beside him, intake moving rapidly with the servo Optimus wasn’t holding moving in tandem with his story.
He lifted his free hand and patted the helm of the little bot. The golden helm turning so that their optics met each others, and a beautiful smile adorned his little treasure face.
He patted the side of Bumblebees face plate.
No matter what any bot said.
He would protect his sweet, kind, little golden bot.
No matter the cost.
