Summary
Last year, she only wanted to survive. This year, she made the mistake of wanting more.
Aurel found in Basgiath something she'd never let herself have before: people worth keeping. But second year scatters them—Bodhi, Garrick, Xaden, all pulled into new ranks and new duties, out of her squad. And then Violet Sorrengail arrives, and whatever attention was left stops being available.
The friends she'd bleed for are guarding a secret with her name carefully left out of it. But Aurel has never once managed to keep her head down, and being shut out of something only ever makes her push harder.
What she wasn't prepared for was how much it would cost to be let all the way in.
Second year at Basgiath.
