Summary
She arrived at Basgiath with nothing: no formal training, no legacy, no idea what she's walking into. She thinks fast, talks faster, and seems constitutionally incapable of backing down.
The plan was simple: survive the first year, bond a dragon, learn what freedom actually feels like. She was prepared to work hard and endure whatever was thrown at her, all by herself, as usual.
What she wasn't prepared for was Bodhi, who decided, without consulting her, that she was worth keeping around.

Summary
Last year, she only wanted to survive. This year, she made the mistake of wanting more.
Aurel found in Basgiath something she'd never let herself have before: people worth keeping. But second year scatters them—Bodhi, Garrick, Xaden, all pulled into new ranks and new duties, out of her squad. And then Violet Sorrengail arrives, and whatever attention was left stops being available.
The friends she'd bleed for are guarding a secret with her name carefully left out of it. But Aurel has never once managed to keep her head down, and being shut out of something only ever makes her push harder.
What she wasn't prepared for was how much it would cost to be let all the way in.

Summary
Last year cost Aurel more than she's willing to count. But she's back to herself. Contained. Functional.
Third year opens under new command, with a new squad, in a Quadrant that feels more like a trap than a school. And someone is working steadily through the list of everyone who flew to Athebyne.
Aurel has never known how to lie, so she settles for saying less. She keeps her head down and does the work. The two people who would have noticed are deployed away or drowning in a job too big for them. So she does what she's always done—she handles it herself, and believes she's very good at it.
What she wasn't prepared for was how fast she would be proven wrong, and how badly she'd need someone to notice.
Third year at Basgiath.
