Summary
Last year cost Aurel more than she's willing to count. But she's back to herself. Contained. Functional.
Third year opens under new command, with a new squad, in a Quadrant that feels more like a trap than a school. And someone is working steadily through the list of everyone who flew to Athebyne.
Aurel has never known how to lie, so she settles for saying less. She keeps her head down and does the work. The two people who would have noticed are deployed away or drowning in a job too big for them. So she does what she's always done—she handles it herself, and believes she's very good at it.
What she wasn't prepared for was how fast she would be proven wrong, and how badly she'd need someone to notice.
