More than just a bunch of Flowers

Summary:

The flowers just wanted to be human, but they weren't meant to be, but yet, they still carried their dreams with them, even as the dark world faded, and they returned to their small, sensitive selves.

But when reality blurs and angels start messing with the borders of different worlds, the flowers end up with human souls. In a familiar but, at the same time, unfamiliar Dark World. They will just have to figure out what the hell is going on.

And find Flowery, since this was without a doubt his fault.

Notes:

I really love those silly little flowers, and I mean all of them, even my annoying jaundice twink, that i kinda want to obliterate, if you know what I mean >:3 That's why I need to write angst about him, a day after release no less.

Damn, at this point, making twinks suffer seems to be my MO. Also, I have loved this guy since his stupid cliche anime introduction that played, unlike many others.

Flowery hit that sweet spot between stupid lovable ass and I want to beat you to death (affectionately) for me, just like Tenna had last year. But I guess people don't get the guy's brilliance yet.

(I’ll give it a month before everybody starts simping for him, even the haters.) Also, his theme is an absolute BANGER, probably my favorite battle theme in the game as of now.

Also, the basic premise of a weird route soul invading a normal route one was completely inspired by Red In Blue by the lovely AConcernedCitizen, so thanks for that.

Also also, the weird route soul is always written in cursive, while the normal route one isn't. Just as a future heads up.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: THE END...?

Chapter Text

The SOUL watched as everything turned black, the lake fading out of existence as Kris and Noelle vanished beneath the dusk's waters.

Was that all?

How boring.

The SOUL stared at the stark emptiness, the words "Insert Chapter 7 Side B" glaring back at them mockingly.

If they had a face right now, they would have surely scoffed by now.

That dog… of course he would end it like this.

They should have expected this, yet it left them dissatisfied nonetheless.

The SOUL felt themself grasp onto their own SAVE file.

There was only one; the others were void and empty. Perhaps they should reload and not proceed?

…Hah, of course they wouldn't; after all, they already knew that nothing would change except a few dialogue options. A waste of time.

Though they couldn't deny that those flowers were quite amusing, as weak as they had been in the SOUL's previous 'playthrough.'

It would seem they simply had to remain in this emptiness until the next ‘chapter’ would come out.

unless…

An idea came to their mind, and it was quite amusing in their own opinion.

Maybe they could still get a bit more fun out of this chapter.

They just had to break a few rules.

The SOUL pulled up a separate SAVE file.

Even if they broke this, they would not apologize to that dog.

Now then…

It was time to mess with a different SOUL's world.

This one had lost its appeal.

The SOUL watched as Susie closed the closet to Castle Town, Kris slowly turning around; they could sense Kris’s pain, and while the SOUL did not know what Kris’s true goal was in conspiring with the knight.

The SOUL felt their pity for the child increase.

But there was nothing they could do, not if Kris didn't let them.

They saw their vision slowly blackening.

A shame that this chapter was already over.

But they had enjoyed it nonetheless, even if many mysteries still persisted.

…!

What was that?

The darkness receded, and the SOUL could clearly observe Kris returning to their home.

Something was wrong.

The SOUL had never felt that before.

Kris paused, staring down at their chest.

The SOUL stopped their panicked pacing; did they notice?

Kris continued staring before eventually continuing their slow walk towards home.

The SOUL made an effort to not move in Kris’ chest, lest they get ripped out again.

That shit hurt much more than the SOUL would like to admit.

No matter, they had more important things to check.

For one, why was this ‘chapter’ still going on? The SOUL was sure this was the end, or should have been at least.

They first suspected a glitch, but no, something else would have surely happened already if that was the case.

The SOUL pulled up their SAVE file, their whole being stopping dead in their tracks; they hadn't noticed, but Kris had stopped walking too.

Oh.

Oh no.

What the hell?

Why was somebody else in their SAVE?!

And why the hell was it in Wingdings?

…The SOUL doubted that it had anything to do with the guy that normally speaks in hands.

As he would have likely already made himself noticeable, at least if he did something this obvious.

Kris seemed annoyed now, as they finally regained control, continuing their strut, now much faster, as they raced towards the Dreemurr residence.

The SOUL couldn't help their worry; if that second 'player' had resulted in this, something beyond ‘canon’, then they and everyone else on this SAVE file were in a lot of trouble.

But right now they were unable to do anything, at least not until Kris let them regain control.

And they had little hope that would happen tonight.

Not when the chapter should already have ended.

Was this the afterlife?

Did a flower even have an afterlife?

His mind was muddled as he floated through the abyss; he no longer felt the body he once had.

Only the pain his chest was in.

No wonder.

That knight really was a pine in the ass.

heh.

He hoped that Ral and the others were alright.

After all, he couldnt save Asgore, nor could he—

What do you wish for?

-Who?

Just a worried little Ä̴̟̦́̀̎̃̕N̷̗͔̖͕̿̽G̷̬͕͛̏͆͘͝E̷̠͍̻͛̇̑̂̾̚L̶̼͎͗.

What?

Again, what is it that you want?

What did he want…?

He supposed he just wanted everyone to be happy, the other flowers, and especially Asgore.

After all…

Huh, he couldn't remember.

It all seemed so far away.

Probably because of dying.

Not that he knew.

Would you give everything for them?

Ah, that one he knew.

Of course.

Without a doubt.

Spoken like a true anime protagonist.

Hah, you truly are a walking cliché.

Fine, I’ll fulfill your wish, at least for the other flowers; I'll give them what they want.

As for you…

You will be a passable vessel, I suppose, for now at least.

…huh?

W-what do you…

Oh? You didn't think I would make it that simple, right?

I want to have some fun too after all.

Maybe I’ll even let you keep your mind.

If you behave.

Oh.

You…aren't actually an angel, are you?

Don't be silly.

I'm just somebody that wants to test the limits of this silly little world of yours.

Don't take it personally, Flowery.

You wouldn't understand this anyway.

Seems like he made a mistake once again.

A flower really can’t do anything at all.

Damnit.
