This fic is heavily inspired by songs for multiple artists
Title: orbiter by Noah Kahan

Notes:

Heyy, I am currently obsessed with wenclair so figured that the best solution to deal with my hyper fixation is to write a fic about it.
This a small, fluff take about what happened after Enid is back I really hope y’all like it.

Multiple songs were used for inspiration some lyrics are even adapted lol so if anyone if interested I can drop the playlist, the title is an exemple as it is a song for Noah Kahan and Olivia Rodrigo’s new album was a big inspiration for multiple scene

There is a possibility of more fics in this fandom later so I would appreciate comments and suggestion in order to improve.

The fic is completed and a new chapters will be out biweekly.
I hope you like it,

Enjoy

Chapter Text

“Howdy roomie” whispered Wednesday in a calm voice, though a hint of worry threaded through its rhythm as she held a newly detransformed Enid, the werewolf smiled weakly.

“You came.”

The words were barely audible as darkness overtook her once more, but not before a small smile tugged at her lips.

It took everything Wednesday Addams had not to sag in relief and collapse to the ground alongside her roommate. Instead, she carefully draped her jacket over Enid.

Three months…Three months of tracking, of overusing her ability, of running from one place to another until she finally found her.

Three months filled with sleepless nights.
Three months spent wrestling with the implications of Enid’s sacrifice and the fear that had taken root in her chest, not that she would ever admit it.

Wednesday was an Addams, and a great one at that, feeble things like worry and feelings had no place in her heart.
It was far more productive to focus on other, more important matters.

Like repaying Enid for saving her.
Yes.
That was all this was, a debt one she would repay.

Getting even with the girl who had thrown away everything, her own humanity included, for Wednesday’s sake.
Calling it a debt was easier, debts could be repaid.
They could be settled and forgotten.

The alternative was considerably more dangerous.

A small shiver ran through her body as her heart squeezed at the thought of dismissing what she felt for her roommate.

With a deep breath, Wednesday stood, Enid in her arms and walked back toward where Lester was waiting. Together they sped away to a hotel.

Upon their arrival, Enid began to stir. Her arms trembled as she whimpered softly, clutching Wednesday’s hand.

“No… don’t… please…”

Her voice sounded broken.

Then her eyes snapped open, tears slipped down her cheeks as she struggled to catch her breath.

“Wednesday?”

The goth exhaled sharply. The girl who was always so loud and cheerful sounded so small in her arms.

“I am right here, Sinclair. Go back to sleep.”

Pain flashed through Enid’s eyes , but she shook her head.

Wednesday sighed and carefully helped her down.Together, they walked into the room, where they were immediately greeted by a distressed Thing. He began tapping excitedly the moment he saw Enid.

A small smile crossed her face.

“I missed you too Thing.”

Thing tapped away rapidly while Enid followed his hands.

Wednesday observed quietly, the reaction to her last name safely filed away for another moment. A moment when Enid was wearing something more than a jacket,a moment when she wasn’t covered in cuts, bruises, and enough pain to last a lifetime.

As Wednesday looked her over, black eyes met pale blue ones dimmed with exhaustion.

“I got you a change of clothes. Go take a bath so I can patch you up before you go back to sleep,Or maybe we can get food first.” The goth tilted her head as she asked.

Enid didn’t answer immediately.

She simply stared at her.

The emptiness in her gaze made a pit form in Wednesday’s stomach.

“Enid?”

The blonde blinked before a small smile found its way onto her face.

“Yes. Thank you…Sorry, I’d love that.”

It didn’t escape Wednesday’s notice that the smile was forced.Nor did the way Enid had looked only moments ago.

Broken.

And not in a way Wednesday appreciated.
Enid Sinclair wasn’t meant to be like this. She was bright, full of life, broken smiles and haunted eyes didn’t suit her.

After all, even if the girl was a werewolf, she often felt akin to Wednesday’s moon, her light in the darkest nights.Or perhaps the sun.Though Enid would likely argue with that comparison. Thr though brought the raven a small smile as Enid disappeared into the bathroom, leaving the other girl alone to prepare the first-aid kit.

The blonde emerged a short while later, the haunted look in her eyes had faded slightly , though it remained present beneath the surface.

She offered a small smile before sitting beside her roommate.

“Nothing like a hot bath to make you feel like yourself again , am I right?”

Thing tapped enthusiastically in agreement.

“You mean, getting cooked alive. Baths aren’t meant to be that hot.”

A soft gasp escaped Enid before a genuine smile appeared, for a moment, it felt like one of their old routines.

Wednesday began tending to her wounds, working slowly and methodically.

She made sure her eyes didn’t linger where they shouldn’t,made sure her fingers didn’t trace the scars she knew she would commit to memory.

After all, this would always be her fault.
As her thoughts began to spiral, a hand settled over hers, blue eyes stared her down stubbornly.

Because of how close they were sitting, Wednesday couldn’t help but notice the small flecks of yellow still hidden within the blue,a lingering effect of the prolonged transformation she assumed.

She bit the inside of her cheek as Enid sighed.

“It’s not your fault, Wends stop blaming yourself.”

Wednesday’s hands froze over the bandages.

“What makes you think I am?”

Enid’s eyes never left hers.

“Maybe I can read you as well as you can read yourself.”

Wednesday scoffed.

A smirk tugged at Enid’s lips.

“Or maybe Wednesday Addams isn’t as mysterious as she thinks she is.”

That earned her an eye roll, leave it to Enid to make her heart race simply by teasing her.

Enid lifted a hand toward Wednesday’s face, only to stop herself before making contact, her hand fell back to her lap causing a small hint of disappointment in the goth’s chest.

“It was my choice Wends. I knew what was going to happen. I knew the consequences… It was my choice.”

“It was to save me.”

Wednesday fought to keep the guilt from bleeding into her voice.

“You gave away your humanity to save me, and I…”

And she what?

Didn’t deserve it?

Wasn’t worth saving?

She doubted either argument would convince Enid. What she did know was that she hated it.

She hated that the person she cared about more than she would ever admit had been forced to put herself in danger for her sake.

For her protection.

She hated that she had almost lost Enid.
And somehow, that had been the closest she had ever come to losing herself.

Before she could find the words, Enid interrupted.

“And you risked your life to save me, to bring me back , so we’re even Wends. You can’t blame yourself for what I decided to do.”

Wednesday ached to reach for her hand.

She didn’t.

Instead, she closed her eyes, took a steadying breath, and returned to the bandages.

Then she saw it.

A scar.

Just below Enid’s collarbone.

Ragged.

Deep.

Wednesday’s breath caught.

Silence stretched between them.

The wound sat just below Enid’s collarbone.

A few centimeters…That was all that had separated Wednesday from a world without Enid Sinclair, the realization settled in her chest like poison.

“What happened out there?”

The question escaped before she could stop it.Immediately, her head snapped up.

“I’m sorry, this isn’t the right time to ask.”

Enid’s smile wobbled.

Tears gathered in her eyes as she shook her head.

“No. Don’t worry about it. It’s…”

She took a shaky breath, her hand drifting toward the scar.

“You know. Hunters. Humans. Police and…”

Her voice broke as tears slipped down her cheeks.

Wednesday understood instantly.

Werewolves

Not just any werewolves, someone she knew, she trusted.

Maybe her pack.
Maybe even…

Anger flared hot and sharp inside her.
Without thinking, she reached up and wiped away Enid’s tears.

What was she supposed to say?

Emotions had always been Enid’s territory.

Wednesday dealt in facts, logic, and plans.

None of those things could help her now.

“It’s okay,” she said quietly. “You’re safe now. No one is going to hurt you again, not as long as I’m here.”

Enid’s hand wrapped around hers, Wednesday tensed instinctively.

The moment Enid noticed and tried to pull away, Wednesday moved first wrapping her arms around her.

For a second Enid froze.
Then she broke.

The blonde buried her face in Wednesday’s shoulder as quiet sobs shook her body.

Wednesday held on,and held on,until Enid’s cries faded, until her own arms ached, until exhaustion finally claimed them both.

And for the first time in three months, they slept.
