Day Ten: Size Difference

Summary:

""Maybe I was going to say you're talented," Jason offered.

"Oh, really?" Tim looked unconvinced.

Jason grinned.

"You're very talented for your size," he said, and started running."

Notes:

This is one of my favourite tags, ngl... Call it me being 5'4" or whatever, but I just find size difference so... appealing...

Therefore, I was quite excited to write this! It's at least partially inspired by YJ '98 saying Tim never grows over 6'. (Sins of Youth Secret Files 1) That remains my favourite comic to reference, probably of all time.

I had a lot of fun writing JayTim for this week!! It's one of my og ships, I just look back at them so fondly. The banter, the attempted murder, that couple of times Jason told Tim to be his Robin... It's such a fun ship and it's so fun to write my silly little short stories for them! Thanks so much to the mods of this event, I thought the spinner wheels were a fantastic idea ;)

Work Text:

"You're very..." Jason trailed off.

He didn't have to finish. Tim was already annoyed.

"I'm not small," Tim spat out. "I'm perfectly average, taller than average, even."

Jason hummed. He sounded amused.

"I didn't even mention your size," he stated.

"You didn't have to," Tim muttered. "I know what that look means."

"Maybe I was going to say you're talented," Jason offered.

"Oh, really?" Tim looked unconvinced.

Jason grinned.

"You're very talented for your size," he said, and started running.

Tim only caught up to him because Jason let him. The fact that he tackled him to the ground and sent them both tumbling into a wall was another matter entirely.

"Where do you store all that anger?" Jason asked.

Tim glared at him. He didn't attack him again, instead choosing to hold a bunch of tissues under his bleeding nose. Jason was just out of reach anyway, sitting just far enough away that Tim would have to move to reach him.

"Why are you being so obnoxious tonight?" Tim muttered. "Moreso than usual?"

"Am I?" Jason asked, tone light. "Maybe I only just discovered how short you were and wanted to point it out to you. You know, in case you hadn't noticed."

Tim took a very deep breath in, held it for approximately ten seconds, then slowly let it out. Jason very patiently waited him out.

"I'm not that short," he stated firmly. "Damian is smaller than me."

"He's just about the only one," Jason claimed.

"Stephanie-"

"Is nearly your same height and weight, don't lie," Jason laughed.

"Why are you paying so much attention to me?" Tim questioned. "That's creepy."

"It's creepy when I pay attention to you?" Jason repeated. "What do you call the files you have on literally everyone you know?"

Tim didn't respond. He firmly ignored the question, acting as though he hadn't heard it and staring at Jason expectantly. Jason huffed, but it was mostly a laugh.

"I really only recently started thinking about it," Jason told him. "Don't you think it's interesting?"

"What?" Tim asked, slightly uneasy.

Jason scooted closer to him until they were side by side. Tim had to look up to see Jason's eyes, otherwise at eye-level with his chin. Jason was broader than him, wider and thicker, but Jason was more into brute force than Tim was anyway.

"You're smaller than me," Jason said, and his tone very much made Tim feel like he should run away.

"So?" Tim snapped, his apprehension expressed in anger. "I can still wipe the floor with you, anyway."

"You can try," Jason laughed, and the pressure eased up around him.

Tim relaxed only slightly before Jason grabbed his wrist and he instinctively tried to bolt. Jason held on tighter, keeping Tim in place, and looked mostly amused by the escape attempt.

"What was that?" he asked.

"You're looking at me like I'm a dead rabbit and you're a hungry wolf," Tim stated.

"That bad, huh?" Jason whistled. "I'm not going to eat you. You aren't that small."

"Thank you-" Tim began.

"Your wrist is that small though," Jason commented, looking at it appraisingly.

Tim followed his gaze. Jason's fingers were wrapped around the thinnest part of his wrist, and the tip of his thumb overlapped the tip of his ring finger.

"I've never thought about how small my wrists are," Tim told him. "Because most humans' wrists are smaller than the rest of them."

"Even your hands are little," Jason said, ignoring him, laying Tim's hand on the palm of his free one to compare them.

"What exactly are you getting at here?" Tim questioned.

"I just wondered, is all," Jason said.

"Wondered what?"

"Are you smaller than me all over?" Jason wondered, tilting his head.

Tim stared at him for a moment. He glanced down.

"Your legs are longer than mine," he stated.

"They're thicker around too, I think," Jason said.

"Your hips are wider than mine," Tim pointed out.

"I've always been praised for my wide hips," Jason blatantly lied.

Tim stared intently for a moment at Jason's groin area. Jason was almost tempted to be embarrassed, but Tim wasn't so it would be even more embarrassing if he was.

"I think your dick is bigger," Tim admitted. "Although I assume it hasn't grown since the last time I saw it-"

"Am I really the creepy one between the two of us?" Jason questioned.

Tim rolled his eyes, as though Jason's question wasn't perfectly valid.

"Are you happy now?" he suggested. "You're bigger than me all over. Are you satisfied?"

Jason thought about it for a moment. He hummed, then pulled Tim closer to him until he could wrap his arms around him. He set his chin on top of Tim's head. Tim had to duck his head a bit to let it happen, but he accommodated in hopes that Jason would eventually leave the topic of sizes alone. He even absentmindedly raised his arms to return the hug.

"Well?" Jason asked.

"Well what?" Tim asked back.

"Don't you think you fit pretty perfectly?" Jason suggested.

"I feel like it'd hurt my neck if I kept it bent like this," Tim said.

"Other than that," Jason insisted.

Other than that, Jason was warm. And Tim, while used to occasional hugs from his friends or rarely Bruce and sometimes Dick, found that Jason's embrace was really absurdly comfortable to sink into.

"It's pretty nice," Tim realized.

"And I think it's nice to hug you as well," Jason said.

"We should do this more often," Tim commented.

Jason, out of sight above him, smiled. Hook, line, and sinker.
