Chapter 1

Summary:

The main character presents struggles in infancy that causes worry in their mother

Chapter Text

Ashely was born into a loving family of her parents, Charlie Roiler, and Michael Roiler. She was their one and only child.

As Ashely grew older, her parents noticed alot of her milestones in infancy was delayed, especially her speech and motorskills.

Around the age of one, Ashely's psyche was intense. In earlier stages of life, Ashely constantly cried from the littlest things, in a much more intense form than most children her age.

Her mother, Charlie, noticed this behavior, but didn't think much of it. Ashely being her first child, she naturally thought it was normal. Tho, when the age of one came around, she was still having these intense crying sessions from small things.

Charlie talked to her husband, Michael one night while laying in bed, trying to make sense of it all.

"Mikey..?"

 "Yeah?"

"I've been.. kinda worried about Ashely lately.."

Michael looked over to her with concerned but comforting eyes.

"What's up..?"

Charlie shrugs slightly, looking to the distance

"I-Its just.. The constant crying.. she dosent even look at me half the time.. and.. dont you think she should be walking by now?"

Charlie sighs, her eyes drifting to the blanket.

"I-I dont know what to do.. I dont know if its me or..—"

Michael immediately wraps his arms around her

"Hey, hey.. hold on there.. before you start blaming yourself.."

Charlie looks up at him, the pain in her watery eyes visible.

Michael goes to hold her hand.

"You know it isn't your fault.. I know it isnt your fault.. Just calm down, ok, my love..?"

Charlie takes a deep breath and manages a smile.

"There you go.. My beautiful girl.."

Michael takes his hand, slowly wiping her soft cheek with his thumb and moving a stray hair behind her ear.

"I dont think this has to do with you, ok my love? Ashely has always shown to be.. special.. How about this, i call into work tomorrow, so i can stay and help take Ashely to a doctor with you, alright?"

Charlie seems to have calmed abit at the idea.

"o-ok.."

Michael leans over and kisses Charlie's head gently.

"dont worry.. we have this all under control, alright?"

Charlie nods softly, a little smile forming.
