Work Text:
There's a stuffed bear on the kitchen counter when Will comes back from the store, brand new and soft to the touch.
He picks it up, turning the thing every which way, and calls out, "HANNIBAL?" but gets no response.
Panic sets in as he keeps yelling, going room to room.
Then he spots him, outside in the distance laying on a blanket in the sun.
Worry fills him as he runs down the stairs and out the door, yelling, "HANNIBAL!" and Hannibal turns sleepy eyed to sit up. "Will?"
"I kept yelling and..." he holds the bear up, "What is this?"
Hannibal sits up fully, rubs his eyes, and sighs. "I apologize I'm rather tired."
"Ok, but that doesn't---"
He grabs the bear, pulling it to him, and lays back down with a sigh. "Will, come here please."
Will falls to his knees, curling up beside him, and Hannibal rolls in close, nuzzling his mating bite.
"Why did you worry if you didn't feel my distress in our bond?"
"I don't know I just---"
Hannibal takes Will's hand and put it to his stomach, his scent sweeter than usual but his heat was soon.
Will's cock twitched at the very idea.
"Hungry?" he teases, "I can make you those...."
"I'm pregnant."
It's like time stops.
Will blinks back tears, his hold on him tightening, and Hannibal whispers, "Will," but all he can hear is screaming, "Will, I....."
"Will we keep this one?" he asks, his voice shaking.
Hannibal kisses Will's mating bite and he feels tears against his skin. "Will, I.....this is our new beginning," he whispers, his voice shaking, "I.....suppose it's not right of me to think of it as things coming back together, our family complete. Abigail...."
Will wants to push him away but only holds him tighter.
"Are we keeping this one? You took away every other...."
Hannibal whines. "Those were not our child, Will, those...."
He growls, hardly able to see through his tears.
"Are we keeping this one?"
Hannibal scents his cheek. "Yes, if you wish to."
"Hannibal....."
"Do you want to be a father, Will?"
He closes his eyes. "I'd be terrible at it."
"But?"
Will kisses his forehead. "You're so old I didn't ever think we'd be able to."
"I am just shy of fifty, I am not THAT old. I assure you---"
Will starts to laugh, unable to stop, and then he's crying, clutching Hannibal hard as his omega comforts him, purring in Will's ear.
"You'll be a wonderful father."
He opens his eyes, staring up at the sun, and whispers, "I hope so."
