Summary
New Orleans, 1944. Beau Graham is the patriarch of the most prosperous crime family the city has ever seen. He is known as Vidame Graham, the Parrain.
His oldest son, Brian, is next in line to take over the family business. Hotheaded but loyal, he will make a good Vidame. Much better than his vain brother Frederick, and certainly better than Will, the youngest, who has left the crime family to fight in WWII.

While his intellect is vast, and his talents in finance, medicine, and law are unmatched, his true passion is violence - some done in the name of the Graham family, and some enjoyed as the Pontchartrain Ripper.
But murder and cannibalism are not Hannibal's darkest secrets. He's in love with his adoptive brother, Will, and fears for his safety fighting overseas.
Today is the day of Abigail Graham's wedding. At last, the Graham crime family will be reunited. Love and death are the great hinges upon which this epic saga turns.

The doors opened, and the Chesapeake Ripper was brought into the arena. However, he didn't look like Will had remembered him. His hair was disheveled and he wasn't clean-shaven like he'd been in the time before his arrest. He, too, was covered solely by a loincloth. Under the spotlights his deliberately oiled muscles gleamed even more like those of roman gladiators. He was bound, a mask over his face and hands chained in front of him – chains that he was being dragged forward by.

Summary
