Chapter Text
“When was the last time you saw her, Carol?”
December “Dess” Holiday had gone missing on December 24, 2013. It had been 3 days. The hometown police department was becoming involved.
“Leaving the house. 3 days ago. We had gotten in a fight.”
Officer Undyne sat in front of the missing girls mother, Carol. The police department was frigid, matching the late December air outside.
“A fight, could you elaborate on that, please?” The Officer asked, flipping her notebook open and clicking her pen.
“Yes. I can, yes.”

“Shut up, mom! You just don’t get it!” The young deer shouted. She stood herself up from the couch, shoving the coffee table a few inches. “Me-me and Azzy aren’t like that! We’re just friends!”
“December, thats not why I’m upset. I’m upset because you’ve been sneaking out and smoking cigarettes with him. Mrs Dreemurr is just as upset as I am.” Carol replied, struggling (failing) to keep her tone cool.
“Gah, then why are you mad? It’s like you’ve never been young, Ma!” Dess shouted, stepping towards the door, leaving muddy hoofprints in her wake. “I’m leaving, and I’m never talking to you again! Fuck you!”
“Dess, wait-!” The door slammed. Dess didn’t even take her jacket with her. She only left mud that would inevitably take Carol weeks to clean.
She walked towards the door, but paused. Dess did this often. She’d be back in the morning, Carol told herself.
She decided to call Toriel to check in on how it went with Asriel. Hopefully, it was better than how it went down with Dess.
Toriel answered after two rings. She sounded exhausted, like she had been yelling too. She probably had been.
“How did it go with Dess, Carol?” She asked. Carol could hear faint talking and shuffling in the background.
She sighed. “About as well as I thought it would. She stormed out, I’ll talk to her in the morning. How about you? How’d it go with Asriel?”
“Oh, about the same. He is in his room sulking, though. Kris is asking many questions about it.” Toriel chuckled lightly. “They think it is ‘cool’.”
That got a quiet laugh from Carol. In midst of the activities that the teenagers were doing, Kris being an imp made it a bit lighter.

“And, that is the full story, Carol?”
“Yes, yes. It.. it is.”
“Thank you. You are free to go.”
