“Don’t leave,” Bruce says and darts a hand around Clark’s wrist. His eyes are scrunched tight and his forehead is covered in a light sheen of sweat.
Clark knows that not long ago, Bruce would rather have shut himself away than allow Clark to tend to him at his lowest. Now, here he is wiping Bruce’s neck with a soft washcloth while humming to soothe his fevered thoughts. He cannot imagine anything worth more than Bruce’s trust.
He nudges away the matted hair covering Bruce’s face and takes his hand. He holds it steady. “I'll never leave you. I promise.”
