Summary
Jason flinched hard when the call rang out. He knew exactly who it was before he had even pulled out the phone. It was his second work phone. Only one person had access to it.
He rushed to put it on silent, but the two audible rings were enough for Nightwing to shoot him an extremely unimpressed glare.
The phone continued to vibrate in his hand as he stared down at the ‘No Caller ID’ burning on the screen.
It had been five months and fifteen days since Slade had last called him for a job. It had been five months and ten days since he had seen Slade in person. And it had been five months and nine days since Jason had last operated as Renegade.
As lonely as Jason was, he had really hoped he would make it to six months.
Or: Instead of being found by Talia after his death, Jason is found by Slade and taken on as his apprentice. While beginning to rebuild his relationship with his family, Jason gets a called back to work and has to try and balance being Red Hood with being Renegade
