    Summary

"Okay, I love you, bye." The new clarinetist - Mel - said, before hanging up. She then sighed, and sat down on the front steps, resting her elbows on her knees and cupping her face. Frank put the cigarette away, and wondered what his first words should be to her. Something about how she was really fantastic, and she shouldn't beat herself up, and she sounded great during her parts and had nothing to worry about.

"You know, a year ago I saw a guy throw up in that exact spot you're in. So I wouldn't sit there."

    Or:

After Robby caught him with pills thirty minutes before a concert, Frank Langdon comes back to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra ten months later with two goals: to keep his job as a percussionist and to stay clean. Unfortunately, what's waiting for him in the orchestra is having to see his ex-wife during rehearsals, a conductor who watches him like a hawk, a section that would rather pretend he doesn't exist, and a new cute principal clarinetist that's becoming impossible to ignore.
