My boyfriend is an angel?

Summary:

“Is Dean alright?” Cas then asks, his voice even more concerned.

“H-He…” Sam trails off. “No, Cas, he’s not.”

“What happened? Is he even alive?”

Sam closes his eyes and takes a breath. “Yes, he’s alive. But he got hexed last night and h-he can barely even remember anything. I just had to tell him his whole life story because he forgot his own name. He doesn’t even remember you two…”

Cas freezes in place. “H…He doesn’t?”

A good friend of mine inspired me to start writing Destiel again, so here I am!

Hope you all like it!!

(Thanks again, Sav, for inspiring me. I have missed writing Destiel. ❤️)

Work Text:

Dean’s head has been so fucked ever since he woke up on the ground, with a bunny chomping on grass by his torso.

Thank God Sam brought some aspirin to Waldo’s Waffles with him.

Dean holds up his completely broken phone to Sam, tossing it back down on the counter.

“Not sure how that happened.”

“Great,” Sam deadpans. “All right, well, I’ll text Mom, make sure she knows to get a hold of me in case of an emergency.”

Dean nods along as Sam talks, munching on the yummy waffles.

“And Cas, in case he tracks down Kelly.”

Dean’s brows furrow at that, looking at Sammy, shaking his head. Who’s Kelly? He silently asks.

“The mother of Lucifer’s love child?”

That rings a bell. “Right. Right. Yes, the Devil baby mama drama.” Then he laughs to himself. “Say that five times fast…Devil baby mama drama.”

Things are going fine, then there’s some chick that approaches him. Dean has no idea who she is; she’s kinda pretty…nothing really crazy appealing to him, which is weird because he loves all things chicks, but then she slaps him right across the face, completely confusing him.

He turns to Sam and smiles. “Okay, it seems I had an epic night.”

Sam gives him an odd look and follows him out of Waldo’s Waffles.

Then they head to the morgue to take a look at the dead body of Barry…something…Dean doesn’t remember, the blood money making him literally want to vomit up all of the waffles he just ate.

They find a hex bag in one of the evidence bags.

Great…real fucking great.

Dean takes a while to start up Baby, and then when he does, he puts her in drive instead of reverse.

Wow, his head is so fucked.

“Dean?” Sam calls out when Dean looks like he’s spacing out. “Dean,” he calls again, firmer this time.

Dean then turns his head and looks at his brother. “Who’s Dean?”

Yeah, super fucked.

Once they’re back in their motel room, they try to figure out what the fuck is going on with Dean.

Sam places sticky notes around the room labeling things because Dean apparently keeps forgetting shit.

So Sam turns to Rowena, unfortunately, because Dean has most definitely been hexed.

Once he’s off the phone with Rowena with a plan to get Dean’s memories back, it’s to kill the witch that did this; Dean is no longer in the room.

Sam runs out of the room quickly, shouting Dean’s name, looking everywhere for where his brother went.

He runs up the stairs to the second floor, still calling Dean’s name, finding him trying to get into the completely wrong room with the ice bucket in his hand.

So now they begin to retrace Dean’s steps, but Dean doesn’t remember what he did; all he remembers is getting the ice.

But then Dean remembers Barry Gilman’s office, so they search it.

There are pictures on the wall, but Dean doesn’t recognize anyone’s faces.

Sam knows Dean went out for burgers, so they go to three burger joints in this small town, the third one being the Pickle Jack Shack, where Dean sees the chick that slapped him earlier at the waffle joint.

She doesn’t want to talk because apparently Dean was a “dick” to her.

Which, okay, yeah, Sam believes that.

Dean tries apologizing to her, but that gets them nowhere, so Sam tells her they're FBI Agents, Moon and Entwistle.

“FBI?” She says sarcastically, looking at Dean angrily. “You failed to mention that last night when I was flirting with you, me telling you about myself, me opening up the floor for you to talk, but you just blew me off.”

Dean blinks rapidly, confused. Why would he blow her off? She’s a pretty girl who clearly wanted him.

Dean’s so fucking confused

“Look,” Dean cuts in, trying to fix this. “Sometimes we need to just lay low, and flirting with a pretty woman like you could ruin that.”

She just rolls her eyes and keeps walking.

“Okay, listen,” Sam says, taking over. “This is actually sensitive. We think my partner might’ve been roofied.”

Dean’s eyes go wide, looking at Sam.

She stops walking and faces Sam. “Seriously.”

“Seriously?” Dean asks, concerned.

“If you can tell us anything about what happened last night, it would be a big help,” Sam says next, desperate.

She finally gives in and looks back at them.

“After my failed flirtation, which I don’t do that often, by the way, he ordered burgers to go. But it was going to be a minute. We were slammed.” She looks at Dean. “Then you knocked back… Four shots of tequila? Put some “sick jams” on the juke, and then you hit the bull.”

“He what?” Sam asks, glancing at Dean.

“I what?” Dean asks at the same time Sam does.

The bull, meaning the freaking mechanical bull this place has, whose name is apparently Larry.

“He…” Sam corrects himself, then looks at Dean, raising his brows. “You rode Larry?”

Dean doesn’t know what to say for a moment, then he looks at the waitress and asks, “Was I good?”

She nods, meeting his eyes. “You were amazing.”

Dean smiles, proud of himself.

“And then after he finished with Larry, I talked with him to see if he wanted to…blow off some steam with me, but he declined,” she adds on.

Dean doesn’t know why he did that, but okay. There’s gotta be like an actual, good reason for it; he just doesn’t remember.

“Did you see him talk to anyone else?” Sam then asks her.

“Yeah, after I went back to serving tables since he turned me down…anyway, my bartender said she saw him run out of here like his pants caught fire,” she replies. “I told him that we could meet up after closing, you know, in case he was shy,” she looks at Dean, her face turning from anger to pity. “But you never showed…Oh. Poor thing. You were all roofed up…I didn’t know…I’m so sorry if I took advantage of you.”

Dean smiles at her. “It’s okay.”

Sam then looks around the ceiling. “Does this place have any security cameras?”

She gives them the feed and the brothers watch it, seeing Dean walk after some guy to the back door.

The guy pushes Dean down into the pile of trash bags, but he doesn’t touch Dean, because he’s a witch.

Sam then recognizes the strange man from one of the photos on the wall in Barry Gilman‘s office.

On the cameras, Dean shoots at the guy, shocking real Dean that he knows how to shoot a gun.

Then the two walk out the same back door Dean ran out last night.

Sam then finds the bullet Dean shot, which was a witch-killing bullet.

Dean is confused. “There are witches?”

So Sam gives him the talk, but a very shortened version of it.

A slow smile spreads across Dean's face. “Awesome. That’s awesome.”

As they walk through the woods using their flashlights to see if they can find anything, Sam tells Dean more about the supernatural.

They eventually find something, a bloody handprint on a tree trunk.

Dean then continues their conversation on how their job rocks by slapping Sam’s shoulder, forcing Sam to take a step back from the force, and saying, “And our best friend is an Angel. What?!?”

Sam looks at Dean oddly, keeping what he was about to say to himself—well, technically he’s my best friend and your boyfriend—and walks off, mumbling, “We just gotta get you cured.”

Dean follows closely behind Sam, then they find glyphs drawn on a tree trunk in blood.

Dean then finds the witch they were searching for, dead.

“Cool,” Dean says.

Which, no, not cool.

“No, Dean. Killing the witch was supposed to be the cure. So if he’s already dead, then why aren’t you, you?”

“Not cool,” Dean then says, agreeing with Sammy.

Later, after Sam brings in Rowena to help, he knows he’s going to have to tell Castiel about this.

As much as he doesn’t want to, he has to.

Rowena’s words echo in his head: he’s already starting to forget himself, everyone he’s ever known, ever loved. Even you and his silly little angel lover.

Cas deserves to know that his boyfriend, one, is slowly forgetting everything, even his own name, and two, doesn’t even remember that he and Cas are together.

He didn’t tell Dean the part where he’s been dating an angel of the lord for over two years now and that they’re insanely in love when he told his brother a rundown of his life in the motel bathroom.

So after Sam steps out of the motel room, leaving Rowena with Dean, he calls Castiel.

Cas picks up on the second ring. “Hello?” He asks in his deep, raspy voice.

“Cas,” Sam says, his voice immediately breaking.

Cas jumps up from his chair, immediately on alert, his brows furrowing. “Sam, what’s wrong? Are you alright?”

“I-I’m fine,” Sam stutters out, his voice cracking.

“Is Dean alright?” Cas then asks, his voice even more concerned.

“H-He…” Sam trails off. “No, Cas, he’s not.”

“What happened? Is he even alive?”

Sam closes his eyes and takes a breath. “Yes, he’s alive. But he got hexed last night, and h-he can barely even remember anything. I just had to tell him his whole life story because he forgot his own name. He doesn’t even remember you two…”

Cas freezes in place. “H…He doesn’t?”

Sam gulps. “N-No…I’m sorry. You know that he’s crazy about you and—”

Cas cuts him off. “ I know he loves me. That I will never doubt. It’s just this damn spell messing with his mind.”

Sam nods. “Yeah, yeah. L-Look, I know what I need to reverse this spell, so I’m going to go get it.”

“Where are you? I need to see him,” Cas demands.

“What, no! You need to focus on Kelly.”

“Many angels have eyes on her; I’ll make sure they report back to me. Where are you? Where is Dean?”

Sam sighs, telling the angel that he’s going to the Loughlin mansion to get the spell to bring Dean and his memories back.

“I’ll be there in a few hours. See you soon, Sam.”

Then Cas ends the call, quickly making his way to his car, driving to where his beloved is to see if he can do something, anything to bring him back.

Castiel arrives at the mansion well after dark, spotting the Impala nearby, glancing at it to see if anyone is inside—there’s not. So he walks towards the mansion’s front doors.

He hears a gunshot as he’s approaching and busts the front door open, seeing Dean holding a gun in the direction of what Cas assumes was a witch, Sam at the top of the stairs, both of them turning to look at him with wide eyes.

Dean immediately looks him up and down. “Well, hello, beautiful.”

Cas, despite everything, smiles at his beloved. “Hello, Dean.”

“Oooh,” Dean drawls out, looking at Sam over his shoulder. “His voice is sexy too.”

Sam rolls his eyes as he walks down the stairs.

Then Rowena takes Dean upstairs to reverse the spell, Cas meeting Sam's eyes.

“Think this is going to work?” The Angel asks.

Sam nods. “It has to.”

The two then turn and look upstairs when they hear the female witch recite a spell, the room up there lighting up purple for a moment, then she walks down the stairs with the grimoire in her hands, Dean following closely behind her.

“Hey,” Sam says. “Is that it? Is-Is it done?”

“Is he back?” Cas asks next.

“Who’s this hippie?” Dean asks, pointing to Sam.

Sam sucks in a breath.

Fuck, it didn’t work.

“And who’s the fed?” Dean asks, gesturing to Cas.

Cas’s face falls, all hope leaving his body.

Dean then stands next to Rowena on the landing, breaking down laughing.

“Look at their faces,” Dean jokes, stepping down the stairs to hug Sam, before looking at his angel.

He can’t believe Cas drove from who knows where to see him.

Cas looks at him with nervous eyes.

Dean’s heart sinks as he steps closer to him. “I’m so, so, so sorry, Angel. I swear. I-I don’t know why I didn’t remember us. I ain’t ever gonna forget it again, though, that’s for damn sure.”

Cas then closes the gap between them and throws his mouth onto Dean’s

Dean is taken aback for a moment before kissing the angel back, placing his hands on Cas’s waist, under the trenchcoat, Cas's hands going to his chest.

“I love you, Dean,” Cas breathes out when the kiss ends.

Dean smiles big and wide. “I love you too, Angel, always.”

Castiel smiles at him and all nearly feels right with the world again.
