The Scent of Fear (CONTINUED)

Summary:

I started this fic on my old account, but I'm continuing it now!

All Lucifer ever wanted was to feel safe. He wanted to be held. To be loved. To have a partner that would treat him the way he wanted to be treated.

Lucifer never gets what he wants, though.

Alastor, on the other hand, always does.

Notes:

Chapter Text

“MOM, STOP IT!” Charlie shouted, running to stand between Lilith and Lucifer. She held her arms out, her horns emerging from her head.

Lilith glared down at the teenager. “Stay out of this, Charlotte,” she growled. “This is between me and your father,”

“Char, please just go back to your room,” Lucifer said quietly, hugging himself as he stood up on shaking legs.

“Listen to your father, Charlotte,” Lilith ordered her.

Charlie glared at her mother with hatred. “No.” She stood her ground firmly.

“Excuse me?” Lilith raise an eyebrow, her hand raising.

Lucifer's panic rose. “L-Lilith she's just a teenager!” He stepped forward. “Don't hurt her!”

“She's old enough to know better than to disobey her mother!” Lilith said, voice raised as she slapped Charlie.

Charlie yelped.

Lucifer reached towards his daughter to see if she was okay.

Lilith grabbed Lucifer's wrist tightly. She pulled him towards her. “Charlie, leave me and your father alone,” she said, glaring at the girl in the corner of her eye.

Charlie wanted to punch Lilith. Grab her dad and get him somewhere safe. But what could she do? She was only fourteen. Her and Lilith were both alphas, but Lilith was still much stronger and more powerful than her. She clenched her fists. “Mom. Let him go,” she growled.

Lilith chuckled. “Is that an order, little miss Morningstar?” she asked as she looked at Charlie.

“It is,” Charlie nodded. “Let my dad go.”

“And what are you going to do if I don't?” Lilith asked, raising a brow. She tightened her grasp on Lucifer's wrist.

Lucifer just whimpered softly in response. He knew if he tried to break free or say something Lilith would just hurt him again.

Charlie's horns grew bigger. Her demon tail flicked about. She raised her claws and scratched Lilith's face.

Lilith flinched when scratched. He felt her cheek, feeling the blood draw. “Oh, so that's how you wanna play it, huh?” she let go of Lucifer, shoving him away. Her ram-like horns emerged from her head.

Lucifer yelped. His eyes widened. “W-wait-” he panicked as he realized the two were about to fight. “Girls, please-” he was interrupted by Charlie roaring, baring her teeth at Lilith.

Lilith did the same.

Charlie attacked first. Jumping on Lilith, her claws dug into her face.

Lilith roared and growled, grabbing at Charlie and digging her claws into the girl's waist before throwing her down.

Charlie growled and grunted as she was clawed and thrown. She was quick to get back on her feet. She grabbed Lilith's arms, her claws digging into her forearms and dragging down to her wrists.

Lilith grabbed Charlie's wrists and swung her into a wall. “YOU'RE JUST AS PATHETIC AS YOUR FATHER!” She shouted.

“MY FATHER IS NOT PATHETIC!” Charlie roared, sprinting back to Lilith. She kicked Lilith's hip.

Lilith grabbed her ankle and lifted her into the air. “You really think that?” She asked, a growl in her voice.

Charlie snarled and scratched and clawed Lilith's face and neck.

“AGH!” Lilith dropped her.

Charlie managed to save herself from landing on her head. She grabbed Lilith's leg and scratched at it, even using her teeth and biting at her leg.

“YOU BRAT!” Lilith kicked her face. She grabbed Charlie's blonde hair and lifted her up. She glared at Charlie. “You were a mistake,” she growled.

“That's what you think,” Charlie spat back. “To you, I'm a curse. A jinx,” she smirked. “But to Dad, I'm the best thing to happen to him,” she kicked Lilith's stomach as hard as she could.

Lilith dropped Charlie, doubling over in pain.

Charlie took advantage of his and climbed onto Lilith's beck, clawing her shoulders and neck.

Lilith roared in pain and backed into a wall. She pressed all her weight onto Charlie.

Charlie gasped. She scratched and kicked, trying to get Lilith off her. She coughed, Lilith's weight on her lungs. She panicked, looking around for any help.

Lucifer was gone.

Charlie's eyes widened. Where was her dad? Where is Lucifer? “Where is Dad?” she managed to say.

Lilith paused at this. She looked around the room.

Lucifer was nowhere in sight.

Lilith got off Charlie, letting her drop to the ground. “Lucifer?” She called out.

Charlie coughed, taking a moment to catch her breath.

Lilith turned to her. “If you help me find him, I might let you both eat today,” she said, her voice cold.

Charlie stood up. “Fine,” she agreed. She left the room to find her dad.

Lucifer sniffled, hiding in the bathroom. He hugged his knees to his chest, crying into them. His eyes widened when he heard the door open. He snapped his head towards the door.

“I thought I'd find you here,” Charlie said softly, closing the door gently behind her.

Lucifer calmed down when it was just Charlie. “Charlie… I-I'm so sorry-” he sobbed.

Charlie sat down on the floor next to the bathtub Lucifer was sitting in. “It's okay, Dad,” she said softly. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it. “I'm just glad I was able to save you this time,” she smiled softly.

Lucifer sniffled. “I'm so sorry… It should be me protecting you… not the other way around…” he wiped his tear-streaked cheeks only for more tears to fall.

Charlie's eyes softened. He hugged Lucifer. “It's my duty to protect you, Dad. It should be Mom's too, but… obviously she isn't very interested in that,” she pulled out of the hug.

“You don't deserve this, Charlie,” Lucifer whispered. “I'm so sorry you have to live like this with me and Lilith,” he sobbed.

Charlie frowned. She sighed softly. She leaned her head on the bathtub ledge and released a calming pheromone in hopes of helping ease Lucifer. “I love you, Dad. I'd rather be here and able to protect you than be somewhere safe and know that I can't protect you from her,”

Lucifer sniffled and wiped his wet eyes. “You're too kind for this world, Charlie… What did I do to deserve you as my daughter?” He asked, his voice barely. Whisper.

Charlie smiled. “What did I do to deserve such an amazing father?” She asked.

Lucifer sobbed. “No… No, Charlie… I'm so awful to you… A good father would have gotten you out of here. To somewhere safe…” he whispered.

Charlie squeezed his hand. “What makes you a good father is that you're trying,” she said reassuringly. “I know you're trying so hard to make me happy, Dad. And I'm more than grateful for it,” she grinned supportively.

“I love you, CharChar,” Lucifer sobbed.

“I love you too, Dad,” Charlie said, giving him a hug.
