No Place Like the Couch

Summary:

WORK IN PROGRESS—UPDATES ARE RANDOM!!

- - -

A normal night transitioned into an exhausting one that ended with poor Pierrot trailed away with his arms becoming dead weight. Instead of lingering, he temporarily escapes the circus in order to see his beloved Basil and search for some much-needed comfort. Thankfully, Basil is more than welcome to offer that to Pierrot.

Notes:

The main character/reader's name is Basil!

Inspired by the song Shivers by Ed Sheeran (it very much fits Pierrot's yandere vibes in my opinion), Omg Pierrot Gets A Tail Wowie, I Tried, Not Beta Read, Work in Progress, Somewhat Slow to Update

Chapter Text

Main Character/Reader's POV (Current Day in The Freak Circus Universe)

[As with all my stories, none of this writing is final and it is subject to change frequently!]

Basil was half-heartedly watching her TV, slouched against the couch in her living room like a giant, lazy bear.

She snatched the remote and changed the channel, frowning, "Damn bro, why is everything so awful today?? All I wanted was to unwind from the day and all the TV could give me is useless crap like a dumbass cartoon..."

Basil dragged out a heavy sigh, eyes sliding shut, and head tilting back to rest against the couch's frame, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but, I think I'd rather have Pierrot here. At least the guy's nice and kinda cute. Shit, I just- I just admitted that, so much for my unrequited love act… I mean, to be honest, it's hard not to feel loved when a guy like Pierrot is protective over every fiber of my being."

Speaking of the tall, red jester, a fairly gentle knock at the balcony door that sounded like a gunshot compared to the quiet living room, caused Basil to nearly soar off the couch, "HOLY FUCK-"

She clumsily fumbled with the TV remote and pointed it toward the balcony door a bit too dramatically, "STRANGER DANGER!!"

Low and behold, Pierrot, at 6'5.95 feet tall, was standing at the balcony door like a poor, lost kitty. If anything, he appeared baffled by the sheer ridiculousness of the gesture. He cocked his head at Basil in obvious confusion. Basil slowly set the remote on the couch's cushions, awkwardly avoiding eye contact. Pierrot offered a tiny giggle, before motioning to the locked balcony door with a clawed glove, silently asking for his lover to unlock it. Basil stretched her arms before reluctantly standing and heading over to the balcony door.

She muttered, "Way to scare the living shit outta me, Pierrot," as she untwisted the balcony door lock and slid it open.

Before Basil could get a chance to even step back, Pierrot burst in and lunged onto her, clinging to her chest.

"Pierrot!" She yelled, attempting to keep Pierrot on her as best she could, "Chill, I can't support you standing up like this!"

Pierrot glanced up at her shyly with those gorgeous, golden yellow eyes, then hesitantly released Basil, tumbling onto her feet, then curling his clawed gloves inward so he wouldn't scratch her on accident.

"Sorry," he breathed guiltily, eyes evading hers as he swallowed.

Basil's eyes trailed down to his dazzling, gold-y yellow eyes, "I- I can't be mad at you... Yeah, no. It's okay, buddy."

It's hard to stay mad at him when all he does is try to protect and love on me. I mean, who would even want to stay mad at someone like him?

Basil's round fingers hovered inconveniently before she lowered her hands, "C'mon, let's go to the couch instead, so then neither of us will hurt our backs."

Pierrot nodded frantically, jester hat's little bells jingling cheerfully as if even they agreed. Basil carefully slipped her feet out beneath Pierrot's larger body and began toward the couch. She settled into the soft cushions and patted the spot beside her, encouraging him to join her. Pierrot, abandoning all humanoid function, trotted fluidly on all four legs before vaulting onto the couch like a hunting fox. A large, spiked tail sprouted out from where his tailbone would be and it coiled simplistically like greeting someone.
