   Summary

   Some of the Ithilien Rangers were so far afield that they couldn't reach Minas Tirith until after the Battle of Pelennor Fields was won, and the muster for the march to the Black Gate begun.

   Lieutenant Dervorin isn’t sure he can convince the army proper to accept all of the late rangers accompanying him. Some of them are beneficiaries of Faramir's gender-blind recruitment policies. Fortunately, Dervorin likes a challenge. That is part of why Faramir picked him as the Ithilien Rangers' spymaster. It is also part of why Faramir entrusted Dervorin with the details of his plans for what might be done to preserve some semblance of a future for the free peoples of Middle Earth should Minas Tirith ever fall.

   Or, a story about the friendship between Faramir and one of his Ithilien Rangers, and a story about some of what they accomplished together.

   Chapter 2 summary: Prince Imrahil learns of the Ithilien Rangers' southern spy network from Dervorin.
