Chapter Text

SMG3 woke up in the middle of the night with a gasp. Once he realized that the nightmare he had was not real and in fact, just a nightmare, he was able to calm down a little. He was still shaken by it though because it had only been a couple days since the torture in the form of Puzzle Park. He’s thankful that SMG4, Mario, and eventually Meggy were able to save them all but even though he didn’t remember most of it due to the fact that he was brainwashed, he still remembers glimpses of it.
“It was absolutely terrible. Not to mention it took me forever to get that makeup off. And I still have some pretty nasty wounds on my arms,” he said to himself. In all reality though, he was extremely relieved that it was over. Eggdog barked at him with a slightly concerned look but Three just smiled and said, “I’ll be fine. Though I doubt I’ll be able to go to sleep for a while. So how about we go on a little walk Eggdog?” The meme barked again in response and followed him out of his house and then out of his cafe.
The moment he stepped outside, the cool October night air hit him instantly but since he brought a jacket with him, he wasn’t really that fazed by it. Luckily for him, it was a clear night so when he looked up, thousands of stars were scattered across the sky. The cafe owner always found himself calming down and just being calm in general whenever he stargazed. And the Showgrounds are far enough away from the city that there’s little to no light pollution to cover up the brightness of the stars, he thought.
“You can go run around, just be quiet and don’t go too far,” Three told Eggdog and he immediately ran off. The man laid down on his back on the grass and began stargazing, trying to see if he could spot any constellations that he knew, which is actually quite a few. The rest of the Crew, not even SMG4, know that he loves stargazing.

He laid there in the grass for a while before he began to feel tired again, indicating that he should probably go back inside and go back to sleep. “C’mon Eggdog! We’re going back inside so we can go back to bed!” he called out to the meme, but not too loudly as not to possibly wake SMG4 up since he was hopefully asleep in his castle.
Together, the Meme Guardian and his son entered the cafe before descending into the house below. Three took off his shoes before walking over to his bed and laying down after putting the covers on himself. It only took him a minute or two to fall asleep.

The next morning, after Three himself got ready for the day, he opened up his cafe and waited for customers to arrive. While he did, he thought about the wounds he sustained during WotFI 2024. I’m grateful that all of them I’m able to cover up. I just hope hardly any of them leave scars, he thought. He snapped back to attention though when he heard the bell ring and he looked over and saw SMG4 enter.
“Let me guess, you want your usual latte?” he asked, already getting started on it, even before his counterpart nodded and sat down at one of the seats by the counter. Three doesn’t exactly know when it started but he guessed it was probably sometime after the perfection incident or WotFI 2023 that he started getting closer to Four. Though because he had slowly been getting closer to his ex-rival, he knew that some of the Crew was slightly suspicious with him like they expected him to backstab Four, even though he knows that the two of them were past that. Despite Four being kinda annoying sometimes, he thought.
“Uh, by the way Four…” he began but then trailed off, unsure if he should say what he wanted to say or not as he handed the man his latte. He had a mug that was purely for himself that had the Roman numerals for ‘3’ on it that he has had for a while but shortly after WotFI 2023, he got a mug that he only gave to Four and it had the Roman numerals for ‘4’ on it and so that’s the mug he always uses to put Four’s usual latte in, or even if he orders a completely different drink which is rare.
Four looked at him curiously and asked, “Hm? What were you going to say?”
“Uh just,” Three said, reluctant to actually admit this to him. “Th-... Thank you for saving us all and stopping Mr. Puzzles once and for all.”
“Of course Three! If it wasn’t for the warning you texted me, all of us might be brainwashed and forced to be workers at that stupid amusement park, even me and Mario,” he said with a smile. Seeing the smile made Three feel a little better and he smiled slightly in return.
“Speaking of which,” Four said, making the cafe owner look at him curiously. “I was thinking that later today, you, me, and all of our friends could go some place for dinner and then right after go watch a movie? Everyone else has already agreed so I’m hoping you will too.”
“Why not?” Three replied with a shrug before asking, “What movie are we going to watch?”
“That’s where the problem is. I’m stuck with either The Red String, Split Into Threes, Partners in Crime, or He’s Gotta Be Safe. All of our friends said they’d be happy with what I pick but I have absolutely zero idea what we should watch,” the blue Meme Guardian explained.
The purple Meme Guardian thought over the decisions before saying, “How about Partners in Crime? That one sounds interesting.” Four thought about this for a few seconds before smiling again and pulling out his phone so he could buy everyone’s tickets and save them spots as he took another sip of his latte. Customers kept coming and going and Four, although he still sat at a counter seat, didn’t try to interrupt Three. Until one customer came along…
A woman, who looked to be about mid to late thirties, came up to the counter with a man who was either her boyfriend or husband and said, in a slightly southern accent, “Hello there sweetheart, could I possibly get a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino with a chocolate chip bagel that has cream cheese on it?”
“Ma’am, I can get you your bagel but unfortunately, this isn’t a Starbucks so we don’t sell that drink here. Would you like another drink that is on our menu?” Three replied in a polite voice though he already got the feeling that this lady would be trouble. And from the way Four narrowed his eyes slightly, he guessed that he was feeling the same way.
“Uh, excuse me?” the woman said, looking offended. “Don’t all coffee shops sell the same things?”
“Maybe others do but my cafe does not,” Three explained, trying to be patient with this woman.
This lady, of course, got even angrier and she sniped, “Well, I demand that you should because that’s the drink I always order at every shop I go to and even if they don’t have it, they still make it for me.” You literally just said that every cafe sells the same drinks yet you said that you’ve apparently been to ones that didn’t have it, the cafe owner thought, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.
“Well, because I do not have the materials in order to make a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino as I do not expect people to buy stuff that isn’t on the menu, I can’t make it for you. However, I can still make you a regular frappuccino or even a Caramel Frappuccino as those are on my menu,” Three suggested.
“No! As I said, I only have a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino at every cafe I go to so you better make me one! Or else my boyfriend will buy this coffee shop and its entire property it’s on as he’s a billionaire!” the woman threatened and Three noticed that her boyfriend obviously became a bit surprised, a clear sign that she was just trying to scare him and was lying, but then he nodded in agreement and tried to look intimidating. Which of course, didn’t affect Three in the slightest. In fact he began laughing, catching the attention of some of the other customers. Four had also begun laughing.
“Fine, if that’s how it is,” the woman said before saying to her boyfriend, “Hun, can you call the police to come here so we can get this guy escorted off our new property?” The man nodded and immediately called the police. But Three wasn’t scared in the slightest, in fact he was very amused, especially since seeing him so calm made the woman madder. Though she didn’t say anything until the police came.
Once they did, one of the officers came over and asked, by some luck not even questioning the bombs, “Alright, what’s going on here ma’am? We got a call that someone needed to be escorted away.”
“Yes, sir,” the lady said before pointing at Three who was still completely unfazed and continuing, “This man needs to be escorted off the property of this place since we bought it from him.” The officer asked his fellow policemen to question the other customers if she really did just buy the property and all of them said no.
“Looks like ma’am, you’ll have to speak to the owner of the property since you haven’t bought it yet,” the officer said.
“Oh I already did and he said I could have it along with a free frappuccino and a free bagel,” the woman said.
Three snorted and said, “I said no such thing and even started denying the fact that you should even get your bagel. I don’t sell the drink she wants here and she insisted I still had to make it for her even though I lack the ingredients to do so. Also, by the way lady, I’m not the owner of this entire property. You’re going to have to speak to the actual owner if you want to “buy” this place off of him but I have a feeling he’s going to say no. And if you want to take this to court, he’s got a very capable lawyer as well.” When he said buy, he used his fingers for air quotes.
The woman looked flabbergasted by this and the officer gave her a suspicious look before saying, “Alright, who’s the real owner of this property.”
“I am sir,” Four said with a charming smile. “And I agree with my friend here, I’m not letting her buy this property. I worked too hard to get it and I’m not letting it go by any means. And yes, if she does want to take this to court, I do indeed have a lawyer. In fact, she’s actually on speed dial. Oh, also her boyfriend, who she claims to be a billionaire, is false. Because if he was, then he could buy her the stuff to make her drink at home and not have to come to a coffee shop to get one.” Both the woman and her boyfriend were speechless.
After a few seconds the officer said, “Alright, you two are coming with me so I can do a background check on both of you. And I hope you two have a good rest of your day and we’ll make sure that these two won’t cause you trouble again but if they do, just call us.” Four nods and waves while both him and Three have a sly smile on their faces as the woman kept screaming and trying to argue with the officers.
“Glad that’s over with. Anyways, see ya later Three!” Four said before setting down his empty mug and even five dollars in tip. This surprised Three because Four knows that he lets him have his drinks for free, as long as he doesn’t abuse it, so he was shocked that for once the memer gave him a tip. The ex-villain just smiled at this though as he pocketed the five dollar bill and began taking care of other customers and cleaning Four’s mug.
