She thinks of Betsy in the hospital bed, her mumbled apologies, her glassy eyes. She thinks of Dylan, the way he’d stumbled back as Lisa had threatened him, fear and horror clouding his features as he’d come to understand what his actions had caused. And in her mind’s eye, she sees a sudden flash of her own memories— Lisa’s red face beneath her, her own palm squeezing Lisa’s throat, Lisa moaning between gasps of air. She feels monstrous.
