Chapter Text
Vega was never really a social person.
She wouldn’t willingly put herself in a place where she had to talk to somebody for extended periods of time. So, naturally, when you’re not a social person who likes your alone time, a small cozy apartment seems perfect for that! Right?
That’s what Vega thought.
The bed creaks slightly as Vega rests on his mattress, absolutely exhausted from lifting moving boxes all day and talking to people strangely relieved to sell their apartment.
The room was almost pitch black, the only thing illuminating it being the moonlight peeking through the windows. He sighs, laying down on his side before eventually drifting to sleep, which only lasts like- 2 hours.
Clunk!
Vega jolts awake, not used to the setting of their new room yet, eyes darting in an attempt to recognize where they were. The room was significantly colder, probably from the time of day.
Vega shivered, picking up her glasses and placing them in her nose.
“What was that..?” Vega questions to seemingly nobody. He groans, tiredly getting up to investigate where the noise came from, still groggy from being woken up so suddenly.
It’s probably just something that fell from a shelf.. He thinks to himself. But she can’t help but assume the worst.
Could it be a burglar? Or a rat?? What if their apartment was haunted???
She snaps out of her panic, straightening herself. Vega, get a grip! Nobody is gonna rob you!
Vega sheepishly opens the door to the living room. Just a room of basic furniture and moving boxes, illuminated by the same moonlight peaking through the windows. No burglar, no rat, and no ghost. But on the rug under the table sat a book.
Huh. That’s weird.. the bookshelf is across the room. She thinks. Hm.. m-must be nothing! Just being paranoid is all..
Vega picks up the book and rests it back onto the shelf, sighing as they start heading towards their room.
Vega glances at his mirror, his eyes locked in on their reflection. Not in a narcissistic way, no, but in a rather pathetic way.
She lays down onto her bed. That’s enough excitement for a night, they think. He pulls his blanket over him, the exhaustion from the day before still haunting him.
And with that, Vega’s eyes droop down like weights, and he falls asleep again, this time for the rest of the night.
The moon sets and the sun rises, painting the outside world with an orange hue, streaks of light spilling through Vega’s shutters.
“Ugh….” Vega stirs from their rest before waking up fully, clearly not excited for what’s to come throughout the day.
The days runs through almost exactly like yesterday. Just less talking to people which was never a bad thing for Vega. The day moves like a snail. Slow. Vega’s shoulders ached. Her energy running dry. By the end of it, Vega just wanted to relax on her bed, doing who knows what. The bed creaks the same ring when they sit themself down. Vega looks into the mirror. The same way, the same room, and the same person.
As his eyes drift apart from the mirror, he catches something. Almost like a figure behind him..? Omg.. what is wrong with this apartment?????
Her head darts back, but there was nothing. I’m actually going insane.. they think. Vega’s face pales as she hears a mischievous giggle behind her head. Vega’s head almost does a 180, yelping a bit before slapping her hand over her mouth. Nothing.
“Uhm…” He thinks of what to say, but there really isn’t much to say. Was there really a ghost??? Vega looks back at the mirror. The same figure sat there, but much clearer. A man with platinum blonde hair tied up in a half-up style. His face painted like a skeleton, smirking down at Vega who was scrambling on the floor.
“w-who are you..??” Vega questions in a panick, looking at the ghost with wide eyes, rubbing them to see if they were hallucinating or not.
“I could ask the same for you. I was having fun with the last one.” They smirk, a strand or two of hair falling between their eyes as they tilt their head to the side. “But they were starting to get boring. So maybe it was for the best they left.” He looks to the door as if the previous owners were there.
Vega was speechless. Who was this ghost? Why was he in his house?? Why did they choose to show themselves to her and not the previous owners???
“I-…” No words came out. What does she even say?? Vega’s thoughts were interrupted by the spirit.
“Speechless? I guess I do make people feel that way. Or is it just cause I’m a ghost?” The entity floats around Vega before stopping behind them chuckling in her ear, grabbing both shoulders before dissolving into the air.
Vega shivers and looks behind them. Nothing. What does he even do now?! Live with the fact that there’s a gothy ghost in his apartment? Was there anything she could do??? Probably not much. Vega was never really into the realm of spirits and stuff so they really have no experience.
Vega stands up, tired from not only the ghost encounter but also just from hauling moving boxes all day. The sky was tinted the same orange hue, signaling it was only going to get darker from here. Vega’s eyes were still wide, still processing what just happened.
