Damian runs right over to me. His fists pound against the obsidian barrier. I can see his lips forming my name, though I can't hear his voice through the howling chaos within my dome. His suit is torn at the shoulder, blood trickling from a cut on his face.
Even through the distortion of my shield, I can see the determination in Damian's eyes—the same look he gets when he refuses to give up on a mission, on a team member, on me. He presses his palm flat against the shield, no longer pounding but connecting. His mouth forms words I can read even without hearing:
"Let me in, Rachel."
