Work Text:
Warmth.
That's all Parrot could feel whenever he was with his best friend — Wifies. How they went on adventures together, solved puzzles, helped each other avoid death, and all of it. Oh, how much he misses when all that mattered was if Parrot, or Wifies were carrying the spyglass. Parrot felt safe and secure with Wifies nearby, who would play with his hair or preen his feathers so carefully Parrot would always lean onto the other, already snoozing off.
Even if the other was clingy, or protective, or anything of the above, he cared. He sat next to him while the other ranted, his wings wrapped around his body in a frail attempt to support himself, while Wifies silently rubbed his shoulder, comforting him. Wifies was there when he was near dying and gave him food and then an aid kit for any emergency if Parrot got hurt in any way. Wifies was there.
And now he's not.
All that's left of the Wifies he knew was a shell of him, and so cracked. All that is there is.. what he calls “The Director". He found out early. All the pieces were put together, and he hated knowing that. He wants the old Wifies back, the Wifies that cared, the Wifies that supported, the Wifies that let him. And now all that's left is just a shadow of him. A memory if you may.
“Parrot?” Derapchu snapped Parrot out of his thinking. Right. He was still in the BAT base. He was completely zoned out. “Sorry. Just.. thinking, you know.” He explained, and Derapchu nodded. “I get it, man. But we're still on the hunt for The Director. If there's anything you've noticed.. just fly here. Or give us any sign.” All Parrot could answer with was a simple nod, he didn't wait for Derapchu to say anything else before he flew off, going up in the air, looking at all the land and water.
He still remembers the times when he flew with Wifies, humming gently while the other continued with a made up melody. He's supposed to hate him, for what he had done. Faked his death, killed his friends, hell, even manipulated others if he will.
But he can't get himself to hate him. Wifies was his best friend. He understood him. He helped him. Wifies. Was. There. He still hopes there's a part of him, even if it's so small, that the Wifies he knows is still there, who regrets his actions, who wants everything to just be okay. Oh, how much he wants that fact to be true.
After a while of flying, he finally reached his and Wifies' home, on top of a snowy hill. His gaze softened ever so slightly once seeing the familiar building in front of him, but before he got drowned in memories, he saw The Director standing not so far from it, and he was probably even waiting for Parrot to arrive. He was invisible, the effects of an invis potion, the only thing that could've provided that he was the director was the netherite armour with small quartz patterns.
“Director.” Parrot said something first, slightly spreading his wings to seem more intimidating, but it didn't seem to work on Wifies The Director. “Parrot. I've been waiting for you.” The Director said, approaching the avian just a bit, Parrot did not move. “I figured.” He simply said. He just wanted to go home, that's all he wants. To just be alone, to just lay in bed and think about all the time he had with Wifies. He didn't even realize he was slightly shivering because of the cold. He didn't wear the armour given to him. He doesn't need to.
“You have 2 weeks to realize who I am, Parrot. I believe you're smart enough to know who I may be.” But just as the invisible player was about to leave—
“I think I already do.”
That sentence slipped from his mouth faster than he could cover it, making the other stare at him, or, supposedly stare at him. He couldn't tell, but The Director most definitely was. “But I'm not sure of my answer, yet.” Parrot added. He was sure it was who he thought he was. All the dots were pointing to one single person:
Wifies.
“Why don't you say it?” The invisible player asked. Really, why couldn't he just say it and run away? Hide? Hide from everything and everyone? Or face him, say that he missed him, he cares for him, he wants the old times back, he doesn't understand why he did those things, why he even joined The Mafia, ask everything and nothing. “Don't want to lose my chances, bro.” Or, he just doesn't want to face the truth. It can be anyone, really, Spoke, Leo, Ash (as doubtable as it is, and a lie), it can be anyone!
After all, Wifies isn't alive, is he?
“I know more about you than you do yourself, ParrotX2. And things that you don't even know yourself. But you have two weeks until you present your answer of who I am, Parrot.” The Director said. But before Parrot could even do or say anything, in a blink he was gone. Just like that.. no trace of the netherite player at all. Yet one thing bugged Parrot a lot—
“I know more about you than you do yourself.”
What? How? That must be a lie. Even if The Director was in fact Wifies, he doesn't know absolutely everything about him, and as he says “even more”. That's not possible, is it?
Parrot eventually went to his home, shutting the door as he was shaking from the cold, making him cover himself up more, and once closing the door he slid down, pulling his knees close. After a bit it was at least reduced to shivering, his wings covering him almost completely, like a mother bird covering her child from the dangers of the world.
But there's no one to really protect him now. Well, all of his best friends are just dead. Wifies technically isn't, but the Wifies he always knew him as is. And it hurts so much to know.
. . .
“Parrot!” Wifies and Parrot landed on ground as the other called for the avian, and Parrot laughed. It's been a while since they even flew together for fun and not for some fucked up quests or escaping or anything else that's just run-or-die type of thing. “Almost lost you there, man,” Wifies said with a smile. That smile warmed something in Parrot. It's really been a while since he just spent time with someone he cared about without being hunted down. Parrot widened his wings to stretch them, it's been a looong while since he'd done that.
“Bro, I'm tired. Are we close to our home, or..?” Parrot trailed off, and Wifies looked at a map he was carrying, and by the looks of his face which clearly stated you-wont-like-this, he knew what he'll say. “Well. Bad news. We're like a good 20,000 blocks away, and sunset's just near the horizon,” Wifies finally stated, not sounding so proud about that information, no, really, who would? That sucks. “Jeez.. villages? Inn's?” Parrot asked again, and Wifies nodded. Thank goodness. “Yeah, I see an inn nearby, around 200 blocks away.” He placed the map back in his inventory and Parrot nodded, and in the next second he was out tugging Wifies, which so clearly made the poor guy yelp like a puppy.
Both guys were in the inn now, Parrot did the talking with the lady patrolling the inn. She was relatively nice, giving the two a room with two beds. Wifies knew they'll be sleeping on one, though, they've gotten so used to it by now.
Once they got into their room, it was quite cozy, wooden walls, just lots of wood, a door in the right corner which most likely led to the bathroom, two neatly made beds, a cabinet and a closet, and curtains. Quite lively. “Should be okay for the night, yeah?” Parrot asked with slight enthusiasm. Wifies could only nod. Parrot was a sweetheart, even if the guy didn't realize it. Maybe too much of a sweetheart at certain points, but Wifies makes sure the bird doesn't do something too selfless, after all Parrot can't lose himself in the end. “I'll go take a shower.” Wifies told, before disappearing into the bathroom, closing the door after. Parrot sighed, before taking off some necessities like his cape which loosely sat on his shoulders, and his goggles used for flying so any debris doesn't get on his eyes while flying, and all the other stuff. After a bit Wifies was cleaned up and Parrot followed after him, going to take a shower himself.
Wifies, who's already sleepy enough, decided to lay down on one of the beds next to the window, taking off his hoodie, revealing a grey-ish shirt, before he placed it near a cabinet next to the bed, then actually laid down. To his surprise, the bed was really comfortable, he felt like he was in heaven, if Parrot could just feel it right now.. well, he would, but later. He heard the water turning on, so probably Parrot was already washing. Wifies truly wanted to wait for the avian to finish his shower and then they could fall asleep together, but he wants to sleep. His body was truly tugging him to just close his eyes and sleep, and even if Wifies resisted, eventually his body gave out and in a blink, Wifies was in a deep sleep, the blanket covered on him, his breaths eventually calming down to a persistent rhythm.
“I'm done—” Parrot saw Wifies already sleeping. Had he been showering for too long? He swore it was no longer than 30 minutes. Or maybe Wifies was really tired from long travelling. He'd honestly be too, can't blame the guy. Through the windows he could hear birds chirping and the wind, or just the comforting sound of nature, it felt nice. Considering how much Wifies probably wanted Parrot to be near him, he decided to sleep next to the dog hybrid, so he did just that. He climbed onto the bed, and pulled the sleepyhead closer to him, his one wing covering the other for any warmth that Wifies could've wanted, and, of course, as always, Wifies, even in a sleeping state, wrapped his arms around Parrot and let out a content sigh. Well, that's all the confirmation Parrot needed to know that Wifies was okay. The warmth felt nice, the quiet felt nice too. His arm decided to rest on Wifies' head, before closing his eyes. He feels calm, and safe, and everything possible, really.
“Goodnight, sleepyhead.”
. . .
The time he and Wifies were just having fun. When, yes, there were dangers, but moments like these always made him think clearly and not be so afraid. But it's all a memory now, Wifies isn't here, all that's left is just The Director. If he could, he could just shake him until he finally gets what he's doing, until he realizes that it's wrong and he stops, and everything will be okay.
He has to try.
Wifies still cares about Parrot, that's true, but would he listen if he wanted for Wifies to understand? Understand that what he's done is wrong? “What can I do, just for the old Wifies to come back?” Parrot mumbled. No one answered him, he's alone. All alone, and he hates it. He hates being alone, hates that there's no one who's near him, hates it. And now, the best friend he could trust his whole life to is just.. not here anymore. And that hurts. A lot.
He ended up falling asleep, sitting down on the floor with his wings covering his body. Waking up was a nightmare, but what he realized was that.. he was sleeping on his bed. He swears he remembers falling asleep not on the bed, so why is he there? Did he forget that he went to sleep in the bed? Did someone transport him? If so, who (he probably had a gut feeling of who)? He groggily woke up, rubbing his temple a bit. When he turned to look at the window, he saw a faintly familiar set of armour walk past. It was The Director. Holding onto the fact of knowing who he really was, is pretty suffocating. He can't hold on. So he put on a jacket so he doesn't get too cold and went outside, somehow startling the player. “What are you doing here?” Parrot asked, and The Director turned, tilting his head a bit, “What I am doing shouldn't be any of your business, Parrot.” The other said. At this point, he really should. He really damn should. “It should be.” Parrot mumbled, anger dripping from his tone. “Have you figured out who I am yet?” The Director didn't seem to comment on Parrot's sentence, just asking him that question. Of course. Should he come clean? Should he tell the truth? But what if?
Whatever.
“Maybe I do,
Wifies.”
Silence covered the two, and Parrot noticed the sudden tense of the armour he was wearing, as if something didn't go the way it was intended, but, of course, he didn't show it for any longer than 3 seconds. “Clever.” Wifies said, drinking a bucket of milk, making himself known. He looked different now, his hair looked more unkept, his face looked both pale, stern, scared? tired at the same time. What had happened? Parrot couldn't help but be worried for his.. friend. “I hadn't expected you to find out so fast, but you're clever. Just not as clever as I am.”
“What does that mean?”
“I direct everything, Parrot. I predict everything, I script everything. I am in control of everything, that's why I know everything about you.” He said it so casually and calmly it somehow sickened Parrot to the core. “Of course you don't have to believe me, but it's the truth!” His tone grew closer to the warm and welcoming voice his Wifies used, but The Director isn't like Wifies he knows. He's still the same, but yet so different. “I did this to protect you, Parrot. Even if it may not seem like it.” Parrot stood still. “I care about you, Parrot. I only play on this server because of you—” Wifies paused, “—what else am I supposed to do without you? You need me as much as I need you.”
Parrot wanted to protest, Parrot wanted to yell and say it's not true and he's okay without him, but he still held the truth in that sentence. He's right. He always said he was. “Just leave me be, Wifies.” Parrot mumbled, he felt his throat tighten. Those feelings again, the ones which always choke him and try to drown him so bad. Wifies was there to help him out, but he doesn't want this Wifies. He wants the old Wifies. “Parrot—!” But even as Wifies reached towards Parrot, as close as he was to pull him back, Parrot went back to their? home and shut the door, silence coming from Wifies' end.
“I'm sorry.” Wifies mumbled, but it was too late to fix anything. Damn it, he has to focus. Just because he cares about Parrot doesn't mean everything's gonna be the same. No, of course not. Wifies that Parrot knows is dead (is he?), he can't resurface back to ground after being underwater for so long. “Parrot, please. Let me inside. I can't let you get hurt again.” Wifies pleaded, his tone carrying weight he didn't realize he carried within himself. “Parrot. I won't hurt you, I don't want to and I won't. Please, just let me help.” He wants to help him, he can't just leave him alone there, what if he does something stupid again? Something that'll risk his life so badly he won't see his face again? No, no. He can't allow that.
“Please, Parrot.. open the door.” He carried the voice the old Wifies carried. The one which made Parrot glow so warmly and the one which held every memory, every moment in which Parrot would sell the world for.
But not for the new Wifies, isn't it?
Just as Wifies was about to give up, he heard the door creak slightly open, revealing Parrot with a slight frown and tired eyes. He looked horrible, which immediately flipped a switch in Wifies. He went inside and closed the door almost immediately. “Parrot, rest. You look miserable.” Wifies grasped Parrot's wrist, not enough to hurt but enough that Parrot doesn't go anywhere. He carried him to his bed and laid him down, but obviously Parrot was resisting for a bit but understood that Wifies won't give up trying to take care of him any time soon, maybe not never. “Do you feel cold? Do you need some warm food? Tea? Do you want a blanket—?”
“I'll be fine with just some soup.” Parrot cut him off, his voice slightly raspy. Had he been crying? Goodness, no. He can't see Parrot crying, even worse if it's because of him. “Are you sure?” Wifies asked, Parrot nodded. And Wifies didn't retort anything back just in hopes Parrot trusts him just a bit more as he went to the kitchen and made some soup, the one he remembers Parrot loved.
“Here, eat it all.” Wifies told, his face and tone now neutral, as if everything that's happening is absolutely fine. Parrot took the warm food given to him, and took a hesitant sip of it. Of course Wifies knew about his favorite soup, the one Wifies kept making the second he heard Parrot liked the taste of it. He saw Wifies sit on his own bed, watching Parrot eat. That gave chills in his mind and body, how could his own best friend change so much, and for the worst? What happened? One obvious point might be the influence of The Mafia, but he already acted a bit off before. Had the need to protect and keep the bird safe overpower his decency and morals?
Oh, he missed the old Wifies.
He finally ate the last pieces of the bowl, and Wifies immediately took it like on auto-pilot and went back to the kitchen to clean it up, and the feeling of wanting to sleep took over him. He felt so sleepy, even before this, but sleep had gotten to him a bit badly lately. Especially with trying to find out who The Director was and then finding out, the sleepless nights, the realization of The Director’s true identity, the bandana Wifies wore and gave to Parrot, which he carries in his belt like a reminder of their old friendship and trust.
Remembering it made Parrot's heart warm up just a little bit at the thought. How nice it all was. Maybe, just maybe, he can rely on those warm memories for just a bit longer, the weariness of his eyelids finally closing.
. . .
Two people stood on the top of a mountain, covered with ice on top. Snow fell slowly, too slowly as some might say. Both wore armour, protecting themselves from the cold. The Mafia had been relentless, as Ash said they had only 24 hours to either join The Mafia and submit to it, or die. Such a cruel thing. They had 12 hours left, and on their house they shared together, in front of the door stood a simple sign:
“I found you.”
They can never rest, can they?
Everyone had left Parrot, either too scared or unbothered, or lost hope in trying to fight against The Mafia, or joined it. Parrot and Wifies had not. And now, they're standing on top of the mountain, looking at the horizon, even if the snow isn't quite helping, slightly messing up the vision.
“Wifies?” Parrot asked Wifies, turning to look at him.
“Yeah?” Wifies turned his head to look at his best friend.
“I.. have a question.” Parrot said, he kept staring at the other.
“Yeah, what's up?” The wind still blew, Wifies' answer slightly hard to hear, yet Parrot had still heard it clear and well.
Parrot stayed silent, looking back at the horizon where another biome stood by, it looked so beautiful. Untouched, even. Peaceful too. Yet peace is something they can't achieve at all—
“Why do you care about the beacons so much?” Parrot finally asked, returning his gaze to Wifies, meanwhile the other stared at the horizon. Wifies laughed, but it more came out of a teasing one, as if Parrot knew the answer to that, but he didn't, so that's why he's asking.
“I— Well, at first it was just about.. you know, making a point, right?” Wifies said, smiling lightly. “It's.. it's more than that. It's not just a call for help anymore.” He paused.
“it's not.. it's a sign there's still people who are willing to fight.”
“Cause you know how he said that The Mafia doesn't wear invis because they don't want to take any accountability? ‘Cause they want to hide?”
“Yeah.” Parrot agreed.
“Well, the beacons are the opposite of that. Like, we aren't afraid to show ourselves. It's clear to The Mafia head on that there's someone who's going to fight them.”
“And he's not scared of being invis?” Parrot noted. It really was making sense.
“Yeah.” Wifies agreed on the sentence.
“He's.. proud to be visible and resistant.”
“But who's left?” Parrot asked again, truly who's left? Is there anyone who hasn't submitted to The Mafia? Is there? “What's the point of, like.. activating these beacons if it's just us?”
“But it's not just us. You know how he sent it all before.. you know, all of them left, we sent others to restore the beacons and stuff.
“Parrot, there are people who decided they don't wanna live and be like it anymore. Because of the beacons! They know that someone else— that's like more than one person to let them know they're not alone.”
. . .
“Well.. I guess this is where we have to part ways.” Wifies said, his voice calm, yet he wore a smile. A genuine smile, which said that this wasn't the end. It wasn't, it really wasn't.
“Do you have to go?” Parrot asked, suddenly his voice feeling smaller than it has to be.
“I.. I mean. This is how it has to be, isn't it? All that really matters now, Parrot, is that you keep yourself alive.” He said, “you have a pretty big tendency of putting yourself in the stupidest situation without any regard. It's maybe.. a little inspiring.” He said jokefully, yet it seemed the kind which makes you let out a sigh mimicking a laugh as well.
“But please, for me a little, think of yourself.”
“Wifies?” Parrot asked again, looking at Wifies. Somehow, this little talk made hope ignite in him. There's still a chance. He can say it.
“Yeah?”
“I've never really.. got an opportunity to say this.. but..”
“Thank you for being my friend.”
…
A faint chuckle, before Wifies lightly said: “Anytime, dude.”
—
It was all because of him.
Him.
Ash.
He's mad. Boiling mad even. He made Wifies sacrifice himself just for Parrot, that alone made Parrot want to scream and want to try and kill Ash, his worries of other Mafia players completely out, until Spoke or Wemmbu have to awkwardly calm his burning mind down.
He's going to save Wifies, no matter what it takes. He'll be okay, Parrot just has to make sure he is. And he will be, after all, he needs to save Wifies, everyone now. There's still hope,
Right—?
. . .
Parrot bursted awake, but all his eyes met were darkness. Is this another nightmare? What's going on? Did he get kidnapped? Where's Wifies— forget about him (he can't, no matter how much he tries), until he felt his bedsheets and realized he was still in his home, just it was dark. Is it night? Where's even “The Director” at? He doesn't miss him, he doesn't, as much as he wants to. Okay, he does. He does miss him, but he can't hear anything, just the quiet sounds of nature outside, and wind blowing outside. That's all, until he felt quiet breathing on the opposite side of Parrot, and when he turned his head, thankfully his vision got used to the darkness, saw a laying figure facing Parrot, but he was clearly asleep by the looks of it. Was that Wifies? Must be. Somehow, against his own judgement, Parrot just wanted to crawl on Wifies' bed, hug him and not let go until he's sure all the danger is absolutely gone and he can only feel the others' warmth and slow breathing, but he can't. No. This isn't Wifies. Is he? He pulled the sheets closer to him, his mind already going haywire, he hated when it happened, he hated it with his whole soul, when he doesn't have a clear mind, when everything's already laid out perfectly, and now? He's curled up like a pathetic bird seeking comfort he doesn't want because he can't face a stranger. But who'd want comfort from a stranger? Nobody.
“Parrot.?” Wifies mumbled, stirring awake, somehow he sounded genuinely sleepy, which he did not expect by the way he acted so robotic. “Are you okay?” He immediately asked, somehow he definitely got used to the darkness and looked at the avian, who was pathetically curled up on his bed, sitting in a corner. If he lies, would Wifies know that? Probably, it's so obvious to see.
“I just had a nightmare, forget it,” Parrot mumbled as quietly as possible, but Wifies heard it anyway and sat up. “I can help you reduce that feeling of helplessness during this situation.” It didn't feel like a question, more like a command. He also knew he feels specifically helpless when he gets nightmares. Parrot probably told him about it so far ago that he was startled to hear that as well before he remembered he mentioned it like one time. He remembered that “nightmare”, how him and Wifies stood on that mountain, and Parrot's words.
“Thank you for being my friend.”
They stung more than they're supposed to.
“Parrot?” Wifies asked again, tilting his head like a puppy who's curious about something. Parrot used to call Wifies a little puppy because of the way he acts, and now he still does. Some traits never leave, as it seems. How silly. “Sorry.” Parrot mumbled. He really wanted to just hug him, to curl up with his wings and never leave, but he can't. All that Parrot wants is to be free and experience things the way they are, feel hope in moments where hope is supposed to be gone, and help others. Be an example of someone who doesn't give up even when there's nothing, because there's still hope. Even if it's so faint.
Yet, once again, he found his eyes watering against his own judgement as he covered those forming tears on his hands, Lord, he probably looked pathetic, yet he didn't hear a remark, a joke, or even a quick “you okay?”, what Parrot felt instead was quick shuffling, walking and then such familiar warmth wrapping around him like a protective blanket. It was Wifies hugging him, not enough to hold unwillingly and enough to just sit there and think. He hadn't felt like this in months, years? He'd forgotten about it already, yet that intensified Parrot's almost full on sobbing onto Wifies's shoulder as he dipped his head down so his eyes were covered by Wifies' shoulder.
“Parrot, don't cry. Hey, it's okay, it's okay, you're okay, you're safe, I hate to see you like this.” Wifies comforted. It felt so distant yet so close, just being held by his best friend while he cried, and his hand gripped onto Wifies' hand which was wrapped around his shoulder. “Let it out. It's okay, it's okay..” Wifies didn't let go of Parrot unless Parrot himself left the embrace, on which he didn't. Not yet, anyway. He felt horrible for leaving Parrot like this, leaving him so sad and vulnerable. This was the reason the outside world was dangerous, what if Parrot gets kidnapped? What if he gets jumped? He can't even live without someone trying to blow him almost daily. That's why he has to help him, that's why his newest invention was made, so Parrot's safe. With him. So death isn't a matter anymore. He's going to be safe soon, he will. After all, they can build their own world together, do things normally without Wifies having to worry if Parrot is near death.
Unbeknownst to Wifies, he tightened his grip on Parrot in a protective way, holding him tighter, as if the world itself hurt the bird. Maybe it did, but Wifies can't just allow the other to sob like this. Maybe it's because of him himself, that maybe this version of him isn't the old Wifies, but he's gone, can't he accept that?
Though sometimes he still feels guilt creeping for every act he's done for Parrot alone.
Lord, he's a horrible person. But it's all for Parrot's sake, isn't it?
“Parrot, breathe. Calm, it's okay,” Wifies rubbed slow circles on the avian's back as he could feel the other slowly calming down, instead of hurrying and scared sobs were only hiccups and the slightly trembling body he had in an embrace.
“Here, it's okay. Let me get you some water.” Wifies had to leave Parrot, and as much as it hurt him to leave his embrace, he had to get at least something to calm the bird down.
After getting a glass of water, he gave it to Parrot who slowly drank it, his knees still pulled close to himself. He looked so vulnerable, it physically and mentally hurt Wifies to even see the other like this. Parrot doesn't deserve to be like this, that's why he needs his guidance. He's able to protect and help him more than he could by himself, after all he's selfless, as much as Wifies doesn't want him to be like that. “Are you feeling better?” Wifies asked, sitting down next to Parrot as the other nodded, but didn't dare to look back at the other. “I'm okay.” Parrot mumbled. His top used response, really. Even when he's not, all he can do is use that excuse, yet still, still, Wifies noticed that he wasn't. He always noticed.
“You don't seem to be.” Wifies noted, “I'm not forcing you to answer, but, please, understand that I'm doing this to keep you safe from harm. You just keep on hurting yourself further.” Wifies went on to hug Parrot again, but the avian was too tired to give the affection back. He hated The Director, he always did. But now, when it's Wifies, he still hates him. But there's still a part of him that knows that he can never get himself to truly hate Wifies, because there's still a part of that Wifies that wants everything to go back to the old times, he knows it.
“We'll build a world together, Parrot. Just the two of us.”
. . .
The mornings. How awful they can be sometimes. Parrot isn't exactly a morning avian like many others of his breed, how awesome. But what he noticed were the blankets and a comfortably made nest around his bed, and extra layers of clothes neatly folded on the couch with pillows with his and Wifies' colours on them. Next to it stood a sign, with some text that said: “im off to somewhere, be back in a bit”, which surprised Parrot. Wifies hadn't left Parrot's side once, and now he's suddenly off to Lord knows where. But one thing was also in his mind, how on earth did he achieve to make a full bed nest specifically for Parrot and while he was sleeping, and that he didn't even wake up? Either magic or Wifies must be hell of an expert on how to not wake up players, which sounds quite terrifying.
Eventually, Parrot got out of his bed as he went to check the clothes, and that was a winter coat in black, supposedly netherite, with quartz patterns here and there, which looked neat, with a tiny heart on the back. Exactly like the clothes The Director wore. Wow, he really doesn't want to let go of this, does he? Thankfully, he won't need that anytime soon. Or, well, he probably will. He wants to get to BAT, just tell everything since they've been trying to hunt, well, Wifies down for a long while, so, the poor avian had no choice but to put on the coat and put his flying goggles on. The coat was quite warm, so Parrot didn't have a horrid problem with it, yet. Maybe he will later if he finds an invisible reason to dislike it. But.. still.
Once Parrot was ready to leave, he opened the door, the cold and fresh temperature outside hitting his face, and, of course, snow. But he couldn't take even a few steps as he saw Wifies land down with his elytra, before noticing the other, stopping in his tracks for a second. “Oh, Parrot. You're awake. Are you okay? Does anything bother you? I'll help you get rid of it.” Wifies concerningly asked, tilting his head again.
“Help you get rid of it.”
Sounds like a threat. Like something that's a small mistake which can be fixed, yet will get permanently punished for life.
“I'm alright, thanks. I'm off to meet BAT. I'll be back.” He doesn't exactly know if he wants to go back, but as he wanted to fly up to start his journey, he felt a hand grasp his own. “They don't need you at the moment.” Wifies said a heartbeat too fast, what was he on? What? “They don't matter right now.” He added. What? No! They do matter! They always did for Parrot, even if he didn't make it obvious. Leo, Jumper, Derapchu.. Nufuli. All of them matter for him just as everyone else. “Just..” Wifies loosened his grip on the avian, as he turned around and walked somewhere in the distance. “Follow me.”
“What if I don't? You said you care too much about me, so you won't kill me.” Parrot retorted back.
“But I'll kill all your friends instead.” Silence. Parrot started to follow him.
