Notes:

Hope you all like it! ❤️

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Buck and Eddie have been dating for three weeks now, and they are finally going out on their first “official” date with just the two of them, instead of with their boys.

Sure, they have absolutely loved going to the zoo, aquarium, and many different museums with Chris and Theo, holding hands as they followed behind Chris, who was telling Theo all sorts of facts about the exhibits and animals, watching as the boys’ eyes widened in pure wonder.

But now they are going to have a night to themselves because Christopher offered to watch  Theo for a few hours while they go out.

And Eddie jumped at the chance to finally let his romantic side out that he didn’t know he had and spoil his boyfriend rotten for once.

Buck has been such a gentleman since they got together and has been constantly spoiling Eddie. Like how he always makes Eddie’s coffee every morning, never lets Eddie do it, or cook. He even holds the door for Eddie and chauffeurs him around everywhere—which Eddie doesn’t mind, but he’d like to do it for Buck for a change.

So he offered to plan this date all on his own, and Buck can do the next.

Buck couldn’t say no, especially to Eddie and those cow eyes.

Eddie has been letting his romantic side show as he plans out his first date with Buck.

He really had no idea he had a romantic side until he got together with Buck three weeks ago, and now he wants to, to put it bluntly, woo the socks off of him.

He planned to take Buck to a somewhat fancy Italian restaurant that Buck kept raving about:

“It's on the water, Eddie, imagine the sunsets!”

“Oh my God, look at the pasta. Oh my God, Eddie, the CHEESE!!!”

“LOOK AT THE CHOCOLATE CAKE, EDDIE, OH MY GOD, THE CHOCOLATE!!! I can already feel it melting in my mouth!!”

Everyone at the firehouse would look at him like he was an idiot, but Eddie looked at Buck like he hung the moon and asked Buck what the restaurant was called so he could jot it down and remember it for later.

So finally, after months of Buck talking and talking about this restaurant, Eddie finally secured a reservation for two tonight for their first date.

He’s surprised that he’s kept it a secret from Buck.

But he has, and tonight is the night that he’s going to be taking his boyfriend out on a date.

To say he’s excited is putting it lightly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buck looks at Chris one more time before heading towards the front door, grabbing a hold of Eddie's hand, squeezing it anxiously. “Are you sure about watching him? We can call Bobby or Maddie instead.”
Chris deadpans at Buck, “He’s my baby brother; it’s about time I bond with him, and you and Dad need this.”
Buck blue screens, unable to form words.
Eddie speaks next. “Thank you, mijo. Call us if you need anything.”
“Bye, Buck! Bye, Dad!” Chris tells them with a wave.
Theo jumps up and down, waving at them, grinning. “Bye, Bucky! Bye, Eddieeeeee!”
Buck and Eddie laugh and wave at their boys, shutting the door behind them, making their way to Eddie’s truck.
“Did that just happen?” Buck asks his boyfriend, in disbelief.
Eddie chuckles lightly, squeezing Buck’s hand that’s still in his. “Yeah, it did.”
Buck then meets Eddie’s sparkling chocolate eyes. “I love our family, Eds.”
“I love it too, Buck.”
When they reach Eddie’s truck, Eddie holds the passenger door open for Buck.
Buck grins. “Thanks, Eds.”
Eddie winks, shutting the door and walking over to the driver’s side to hop in himself.
“So, where are we going, Eds?” Buck asks with an excited grin.
Eddie reaches over the center console and takes Buck’s hand. “It’s a surprise, baby. You’ll see when we get there.”
Buck pouts overdramatically. “Okay, fine.”
Eddie pulls their joined hands to his lips, kissing Buck’s knuckles. “You’ll love it, I promise. Just be patient, mi amor.”
Buck sighs, accepting defeat. “Okay, fine. You’re lucky I love you.”
Eddie grins. “Damn right I am, and I love you too.”
Then Eddie puts the truck in drive and takes them to the restaurant for their reservation, excited to see Buck’s reaction once he sees the name of the place.
Buck turns the radio onto whatever station he wants as Eddie follows Google Maps to the restaurant.
As soon as Eddie pulls into the parking lot of Pasta la Vista, Buck lets out a loud gasp.
“Oh my God, Eddie! Y-You did this for me?” His ocean eyes tear up at that.
Eddie nods, squeezing Buck’s hand. “Yeah, I did.”
“You’re the best! I love you so much.”
Eddie smiles softly. “I love you too.”
Eddie then shuts off the truck, quickly hops out, and walks around the front so he can open the door for Buck.
He’s spoiling his boyfriend tonight.
Buck grins as Eddie helps Buck down and out of the truck, closing the door for him and then taking his hand as they walk to the doors.
Eddie holds the door open for Buck, then locks their arms as they walk to the hostess stand.
“I have a reservation for two for Diaz,” Eddie tells her.
She smiles at him and then gets two menus, leading them to a table on the balcony with the most perfect ocean view.
Eddie pulls out Buck's chair, smiling brightly as Buck smirks.
“Such a gentleman,” Buck teases with a cheeky smile.
“Anything for you, mi amor,” Eddie flirts back, taking the seat across from Buck.
Buck turns and takes a picture of the ocean because he can’t resist, and then he and Eddie start looking through the menu.
Buck decides on the chef’s special, spaghetti and meatballs, and Eddie decides on one of the most popular selections, chicken alfredo, ordering mozzarella sticks for their appetizer and making sure to get an order of garlic breadsticks.
They also order a bottle of Merlot for the table, but they vow not to drink too much since Eddie has to drive them back and their boys are home.
After their bottle is placed on the table, Eddie pours them each a glass and Buck snaps a quick picture of them holding the glasses, holding his arm up, aiming his phone down for the photo.
They take sips of the wine, smiling at each other, playing footsie under the table, giggling.
“Is this place everything that you hoped for?” Eddie asks, taking another sip.
Buck chuckles, setting his glass down. “I don’t know, I haven’t eaten anything yet,” he replies, looking Eddie up and down seductively.
Eddie’s cheeks turn pink at that, trying to hide it by sipping more wine, but failing miserably.
Buck then goes onto rants about many different things, Eddie listening very intently, and jumping in to ask questions.
They’re knee-deep in conversation about whales when the waiter brings their appetizer and breadsticks.
All of it is so delicious.
“Eddie, baby, this is my new favourite restaurant of all time,” Buck says through a bite of mozzarella stick.
Eddie snorts, taking a sip of wine.
Conversation flows easily as they eat their appetizer, waiting for their entrées.
Which comes a few minutes later.
“Oh my God,” Buck moans, taking a bite of his pasta. “The cheese!!!”
Eddie laughs through a bite of his own food, looking over at his boyfriend fondly.
After a little while, they switch plates to try the other one’s food, loving it as well.
“This chicken is so good!” Buck exclaims.
Eddie laughs, chomping down on a meatball. “This is really good, too. Wow!”
Buck smiles at him. “Thanks for bringing us here, Eds. This has been the best first date ever.”
Eddie winks. “Yeah, it really is.”
Twenty minutes later, their waiter brings them the infamous chocolate cake Buck has been dying to try, Buck practically salivating at the sight of it.
Eddie scoots his chair around the table so he’s sitting next to Buck, then he grabs one of the forks the waiter brought for them and feeds Buck a piece of chocolate cake, smiling as his boyfriend instantly moans at the taste.
“Is it good, mi amor?” Eddie asks with a priceless grin.
“Oh my God, Eddie, it's melting in my mouth!”
Eddie chuckles before licking his thumb, wiping away a corner of Buck's mouth and licking the chocolate icing off his thumb, seductively staring at Buck as he does so.
“Oh, you're right; this is really good,” Eddie says with a hum.
Buck blushes brightly, staring at Eddie hungrily as Eddie turns back to him with lust-filled eyes
“You know what, I want another taste,” Eddie says, pulling Buck into a passionate, lustful kiss, taking Buck by surprise.
Buck kisses him back immediately, the two making out softly for a few moments before pulling away, Buck going back to eating the chocolate cake, while Eddie just stares at his boyfriend adoringly, watching Buck make a complete mess of his mouth, strongly mimicking Theo when he gets his hands on sugary foods.
Buck is licking his hands clean when he finally notices Eddie’s stare.
“What?” He asks.
Eddie just shakes his head, laughing under his breath. “Sorry, I, uh, just couldn’t look away, and now I have the sudden urge to propose to you.”
Buck chuckles, his face heating up. “I mean…I wouldn’t say no. But it is pretty early…”
Eddie shrugs. “When the time is right, then.”
Buck nods, wiping off his hands on a napkin before reaching over to take Eddie’s hand in his. “Love you, Eds, thanks for this amazing date.”
“Love you too, but who said it was over with yet?”
Buck’s eyes go wide with a big smile. “You wooing me, Diaz?”
“You know damn well that I am.”
Buck hums with a grin, leaning closer to Eddie, resting his head on Eddie’s shoulder while they wait for the check.
Eddie, of course, pays the check before Buck even gets the chance, then he whisks Buck away to the beach for a romantic walk under the stars.
Buck stops to look at the night sky, the stars twinkling so brightly it takes his breath away.
“Wow, you can never see them this clearly; it's so beautiful,” Buck says, pulling his phone out of his pocket to take a few pictures of the stars and the moon’s reflection on the water.
But Eddie only has eyes for Buck, so he’s staring at him lovingly instead of looking at the stars. “Yeah, beautiful “ he says softly before getting down on one knee, pulling his Abuelo’s ring off his St. Christopher medallion. “Buck?” He asks, his voice breaking slightly as Buck turns to him with his brows furrowed.
“Yeah, Eds?” He was expecting to see Eddie standing next to him, but he doesn’t see his boyfriend standing there. “Baby?”
“Down here, mi amor,” Eddie says, amusement in his voice.
Buck tilts his head down, confused, before gasping and covering his mouth, shocked at the sight, seeing his boyfriend down on one knee, holding a beautiful golden ring in his hands.
“Eds?”
Eddie smiles, his brown eyes sparkling in the moonlight. “Evan, I wasn’t planning on doing this tonight, but I know that it’s the right time.”
Buck smiles, his ocean eyes tearing up.
“I love you more than anything else in this world, well, besides our boys.” Buck laughs at that. “And I want to be with you for the rest of my life, continuing to raise our boys together, maybe even adding a girl or a dog into the mix.”
A few happy tears fall from Buck’s eyes as he nods, strongly agreeing with Eddie.
“I have loved you for so long. Even though it took me nearly nine years to figure it out, I have always loved you and I always will. So, will you marry me, Evan Buckley?”
Buck nods vigorously, screaming, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” falling to his knees, placing his hands on Eddie’s face, and throwing his mouth onto his boyfriend's, now fiancé, connecting their lips for passionate kisses.
As they’re kissing, Eddie finds Buck’s left hand and slides the ring onto Buck’s ring finger, which fits perfectly because of course it does.
They make out for a little while, eventually rising to their feet as they catch their breath, staring into each other’s eyes.
“I love you, Eddie Diaz.”
“And I love you, Evan Buckley.”
The two bask in the moment for a little while longer, then they continue their stroll along the shore, walking hand in hand, leaning against each other.
“You know, Eddie, now that we’re engaged, we should move in together since you and Chris are over at my place more than yours.”
Eddie smiles at the idea, kissing Buck’s cheek. “I’d love that, mi amor. I know Chris and Theo would too.”
Buck grins. “You’re stuck with me now, Diaz.”
“Good. No one else I’d rather be with, anyway.”
They walk for a little bit longer, still hand in hand. “Ready to head back now, mi vida?”
“Let me get a picture with the ocean and the ring first, babe,” Buck says, literally bouncing with excitement as he pulls his phone out of his pocket, opening his camera app.
Eddie grins, taking a step back, letting his fiancé do what he wants to do while staring at him lovingly, like he loves to do.
Buck happily holds his hand up so in the background there is the perfect view of the ocean and moon.
Buck snaps a few pictures of that, then insists they take some selfies together.
Eddie has never been able to say no to Buck and immediately folded.
When Buck was satisfied with the pictures, the two then made their way back to Eddie’s truck, walking hand in hand, priceless smiles on their faces.
“This was the best date ever, Eds,” Buck says with a smile, admiring the ring on his finger as Eddie starts up the truck and buckles in.
“Yeah, it really was, cariño.”
The two hold hands on the center console the entire drive home, Buck gushing at all of the pictures he took while babbling about their date.
Eddie listens to every word with a smile on his face as he drives.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once they arrive home, the house is in complete disarray, which they had expected since Theo is a little ball of chaotic energy—in the best way—but messes are bound to happen. They expected to find an grumpy teenage boy, but what they found was their 16-year-old cuddled up on Buck’s shitty couch, arm wrapped tightly around their four-year-old as Tobey Maguire's first Spider-Man movie played in the background on the TV.

Buck looks at Eddie, smiling and nodding at him before turning off the TV as Eddie wraps Theo's Spider-Man blanket around the two before kissing both their foreheads. “I love you, mjios,” Eddie whispers softly, and Buck does the same, while whispering to them, “Love you, boys. So, so much.”

The two watch their boys for a few moments with soft smiles on their faces, Buck snapping a quick picture before the two walk down the hallway to change their clothes and get ready for bed—after taking a quick shower together to wash the sand off.

As they’re tucking themselves into bed, Buck slides the ring off his finger because he doesn’t want to sleep with it on and spots an inscription on the inside of the band that reads, “Te amo, E.D.”

Buck was twirling the ring in his hands when he spotted it, staring at it in shock.

Then he turned his head and looks at Eddie. “Eds, did you do this?”

“Do what?” Eddie asks as he slides into the bed.

This,” Buck says, showing Eddie the inscription in the ring.

Eddie looks at what Buck is pointing at and then smiles. “No, my Abuela did it for my Abuelo, Edmundo.”

It clicks in Buck’s brain, and a big grin spreads across his face. “Oooooh.”

Eddie chuckles, leaning over to Buck, kissing his fiancé’s cheek. “I love you so much, you’re so dear to me.”

Buck blushes, setting the ring on his nightstand before throwing his mouth on Eddie’s, pouring all of their love into it.

It didn’t take long for it to become more, as it usually does with them, and then they discover how hot engaged sex really is.
