Work Text:
Jack has taken three showers but he still can't get the smell of smoke off his skin or out of his hair. Some fires are like that, they can't just be washed away from the body for days.
“Are you hungry?” Samira asks, walking into the kitchen barefoot still half asleep. There is no silent treatment or slamming cupboard doors because he missed date night because of work. A lot of his past relationships had been like that. “I can make you something.”
“Nope, already ate before coming home,” Jack replies, reaching for her arm and pulling her over to him. His arms go around her waist, she melts into him so easily that sometimes it was hard to believe they were two different people. “I had the most unhealthy, greasiest cheeseburger known to mankind.”
Samira tuts and mutters something under her breath that he doesn't quite catch. Although, he's sure it's something about his cholesterol being too high.
“You wanna catch a few more hours of sleep with me?” Jack hopes the answer is yes. He hates sleeping alone.
“Sure,” Samira says, tilting her head slightly up so she's looking in his eyes. “But I do mean actually sleeping.”
