    “Shane Hollander. Will you take you team to victory?” The way that he said Shane’s name was so irritating. The way intonation curved his name, the words—a deep timbre reverberating through each individual syllable in a way that Shane couldn’t quite put a finger on.

    “I see you uh, remembered my name.” Shane was determined not to back down, but soon realized that he didn’t have much of a chance the second the words left his lips.

    “Ah, but you do not know mine no?” Shane couldn’t respond because the referee had thrown the puck up into the air and on the ice and it immediately drew his attention away from their banter.

    Of course Shane knew his name. It was all he could think about for the past ten hours.
