Work Text:
Watch the night with eyes cast high,
Where flittering bats go sweeping by.
They guard the dark, they guard the day,
And keep the worst of fear at bay.
When whispers rise in Gotham's gloom,
Or shadows promise certain doom,
The Bat and all his birds take flight,
To answer every fearful night.
An Oracle with knowing eyes
Sees truth beneath deceitful lies.
From tower tall her guidance streams,
A beacon bright through shattered dreams.
They watch the child who's lost their way.
They watch the soul who's gone astray.
They hear the cries no one else hears.
They stand between you and your fears.
So look above where gargoyles lie,
Where silent bats through darkness fly.
They watch the rooftops, streets below,
And see far more than most will know.
Call not their names with reckless pride,
Nor seek the places where they hide.
But should the night fill you with dread,
The Bat may come where angels tread.
So fear no owl upon its perch,
Nor Talons sent to hunt and search.
For if you're lost and hope grows thin,
The bats will find the light within.
