Chapter 1: Nightmares

Chapter Text

In the weeks after Peter’s three month captivity in The Air B and B of Horrors, he was thoroughly traumatized.

When he finally figured out how to sleep normally again, he barely slept anyway. He was always terrified.

Terrified it wasn’t real.

That being rescued was just a long, elaborate illusion, and at any second, Beck’s sadistic laughter would fill his ears.

When he did sleep, it was full of nightmares and he woke up screaming. Things were better in the daytime, but not by much. Most of the time he wandered around, dreading something that wasn’t coming.

~

“The Itsy-Bitsy Spider climbed up the water spout…”

Peter’s eyes snapped open.

No. Nonononono.

Why was it so dark? Why was it so cold?

No. That couldn’t be true.

He couldn’t be back there.

No no no.

He was imaging things, he had to be.

He opened and closed his eyes several more times.

Pitch black every time.

He felt a scream building in his chest.

“…down came the rain…”

No.

Fuck no.

That was Beck’s voice.

No. No, not again. No, no, no, he couldn’t be back there.

“Aww, Itsy-Bitsy. Are you scared? It’s just me.”

Peter tried desperately to scramble away from a threat he couldn’t see, but he found he couldn’t move.

He couldn’t. He couldn’t move.

The scream came out, but it made no sound. He couldn’t scream, couldn’t move, couldn’t fight. He was helpless. Helpless again.

“Relax, Peter. I’m not going to hurt you.”

Peter felt like throwing up. He thought he’d never have to hear that sickening voice again. He felt a hand wrap around his neck.

“Relax. I just need to put you to sleep.”

The tip of a syringe brushed his neck.

“NO!!”

~

He jolted upright as the scream tore out of his throat. He looked around, sweating and shaking.

It was a dream.

He put his head in his hands and cried.

How had Beck damaged him that much?

He wrapped his arms around himself. he couldn’t keep doing this. He had to do something about it.

He just didn’t know what yet.
