    I watched Pavel closely today; I always do. More so than anything else I have watched, including my targets. I notice every time he rights his gold-embroidered tie. Every time he fidgets with one of his immaculate braids, the fiery red and orange extensions woven into the ends complementing the warm sepia of his skin like the gleaming glory of an August sunset. Every folding of his hands, every nervous twitch of his left eye, every sound that passes the opulent curve of his lips. He’s gorgeous like that, too — stone-faced, bossy, radiating grace and danger in equal measure without trying. But I couldn’t stop thinking about being alone with him — a gentler version of him, relaxed and attentive and all mine, just like the kills I like to savor when I’m not on duty — instead of focusing on the meeting.
