Summary

“Oh would you look at that,” she spat bitterly, keeping pace behind Klaus as he stomped down the hall and into his study. “Another excuse. It’s like clockwork with you, Klaus. Every month, you vanish for days like some shady boyfriend with a secret double life.”
He shrugged out of his jacket with an irritated yank and flung it onto a leather chair before heading straight for the bar.
“You’re being ridiculous, Caroline,” he muttered, refusing to look at her.“Am I?!” she shot back, following him deeper into the room. “Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re either cheating on me or planning something sinister.” She folded her arms across her chest in defence. “So which one is it?!”
