   Summary

   "Hi, P'Wik," Chay greets, setting his bag down on the floor. "Long day?"

   Predictably, P'Wik says nothing in reply.

   "School was normal, I guess," Chay continues. "I ended up out longer than I'd expected, though." It is nearly dark outside, shadows clouding over the sky, slowly swallowing the light of the sun whole. "Didn't really feel like coming home. It's just so empty, you know?"

   P'Wik stares back at him from his many perches on Chay's wall. Chay smiles helplessly.

   "Am I losing my mind?" he asks the little shrine. The shrine says nothing back. The largest of the photos, framed, sunglasses shadowing P'Wik's eyes, does not even smile. It seems like answer enough.
