Work Text:

In…..out…

in…out..

The tide was pulling, and pushing, as always.

It was the same kind of rythym Scott felt with nom. The certainty. Speaking of which, Scott saw his boyfriend walking along the shoreline.

He sped up, catching up to Nom.

"Hii," he said. Nom looked over, a smile blooming on his face. He leaned forward, pressing a peck to Scott's lips. Scott couldn't help the child-like grin grow on his face, the same one every time his boyfriend showed any form of affection.

Today, his lips were salty, like the sea salt that hung in the air. "Feels nice out today, huh?" Scott nodded vehemently.

"Yes, the sun is so lovely! And the ocean, as always." Nom kept walking; armour clinking a familiar sound. Scott took a deep breath, relishing in the air. "Oooh, there's magnolia nearby," he said. "I can smell it."

Nom looked around, trying to spot the flower. He spotted it over by a side path, veering toward them.

"Hey!" Scott laughed. "Wait! Where are you going?!" He continued cackling as he ran after Nom.

The man swiftly plucked three of the magnolias, taking a ribbon from his pocket and tying it to the stems in a bow.

"Where in the world did you get that?" Nom didn't look up, only responding, "I always expect you to find some flower. I like to stay prepared." He looked up, smiling. Scott's heart absolutely shattered. In the best, amazing, most possible way.

Nom handed him the bouquet, and Scott instantly crushed him in a hug.

"Thank you," he whispered. Nom squeezed him tighter.

"I love you."

Nom froze, clearly froze. Scott stuttered. "Oh. Uh. I—gosh, I am so sorry. I didn't—" Nom cut him off which a kiss.

His salty, chapped lips pressed against Scott's. Scott's eyes widened before they fluttered shut, kissing back. They both pulled back, panting. "I love you, too." Scott blushed a deep red. "Wait," Scott said, pausing.

"There are people around!" Nom laughed heartily, looking around.

"So what if people saw their amazing king smooching?" Scott covered his face with his hands, thoroughly embarrassed.

Nom laughed again. "Only kidding, there's no one even around." Scott pulled his hands away and gasped. "You're evil!"

He took Noms hand anyway, pulling them back to the path.

.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.

Hours later, Scott ended up back at home, lying on his bed and all he could think about was Nom. How much he loved the man.

But…

How was the kingdom going to receive it? Nom mentioned that earlier, jokingly, but it made Scott start thinking.

Which was a dangerous, dangerous thing. He didn't want to be mocked, or attacked, or heck, even killed.

And he really, really didn't want Nom to be in any sort of danger. He sighed, readjusting on the bed, and looked down at the flowers in his hand.

At least he would always have Nom with him.
