Summary
It all started with a simple slip-up.
A new popular romance manga had just released a new chapter. This one featured the engagement of the main couple. At Kimetsu Academy, this manga was rather popular with the students and even some of the staff. So the halls swirled with commentary, dreamy rants about love, and crazy ideas about engagements.
In a moment of rest during a grueling PE period, some girls got to talking once again about the topic. Each gushed about engagements, how romantic they are, and their own dream proposals. Tomioka-sensei, the tough, no-nonsense man he was, had had enough of the distraction.
In response to his intrusion, one of the girls made a snarky remark about how Tomioka-san couldn’t possibly understand, as he had no hope of finding love, much less getting engaged. After the words had left her lips, everyone froze. She truly hadn’t meant to say it. Everyone was expecting a big blow-up, a swift call to the principal's office, or an order to do many laps.
Instead, all Tomioka said softly was, “Tell that to my fiancé,” before ordering them back to the sweaty game of volleyball.
That was all it took for the great rumor mill to start up.
