Peter wasn't sure why he was expecting a normal day.
Ever since he became Spider-Man, his life has been anything but normal. Tony Stark was practically his father figure until he died, and instead he gained a new one.
Matt Murdock was not like Tony Stark in a lot of ways. For one, Tony was a billionaire who flew around in a suit that cost millions of dollars (excluding repairs) every time he did his “superhero-ing”. Secondly, Matt Murdock was blind. Despite that, he had crazy-good hearing since the rest of his senses were drastically enhanced. Matt also beat up a bunch of criminals, kind of like Peter, except he was much better at it. That’s how Matt was so good at keeping his identity as “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” secret. Nobody would expect a blind guy to be that good at fighting or navigation. As far as Peter knew, only he, Wade, Karen, and Foggy knew. Oh, and Frank, but that’s a whole other thing to get into.
Peter didn’t know what was going on between Frank and Matt, but it was something. They had some weird tension, and Peter couldn’t tell if they were about to kill each other or aggressively make out.
Frank had a tough exterior, but deep down Peter knew he had a soft spot for him. Ever since he found out his identity, Frank was somewhat nicer and more understanding, especially after almost killing him. Yeah, his “family” was sorta weird. Don’t even get him started on the mercenary that would always call him “baby boy” or “petey pie”. The guy’s terms of endearment were sure questionable.
Every time he would try to say something like that to Matt, Frank would always step in about how stupid it sounded—Or any excuse for Wade not to call Matt anything that could be considered endearing. Matt would always smile, sometimes letting out a huff of amusement. It sure was an interesting sight to see.
For some reason, Wade would always try to help Peter with his homework, even though he was perfectly fine doing it. “Are you just here to bother me?” Peter finally asked one day.
”Whatttt… No! I would never do that to you!” Wade waved his hand dismissively, batting his eyelashes with fake innocence.
“I know you don’t even know the times tables, and if you do, you have to think about it for a whole minute,” Peter teased as he continued to scribble down words of coherence onto his homework sheet.
Lately, Peter, Wade, Matt, and occasionally Frank would go fight crime together, just for fun or just as “bonding like a family,” like Wade said. Every time, Matt would mumble something about Wade slowly worsening his senses. Peter would usually let out a snort, gaining a look of mock offense from Wade and only responding with a simple shrug.
However, it was the homestretch of senior year at Midtown High, and Peter was getting ready for his final Academic Decathlon competition. They were unsure of the location because of multiple weather-related delays, so the team had more time to practice. Peter had completed most of his exams; he was positive he got an A on them, so he only had to deal with the competition.
No doubt they’d ace it, as long as Peter was able to go without being Spider-Man for that time. He didn’t want a repeat of DC, especially after having to lie to all his peers.
“If a city department finds the mean number of daily accidents is 10, this mean value is an example of what kind of statistics?” Liz asked aloud, waiting for the sound of a buzzer. Her eyes shone with curiosity when she looked up at Cindy, who had just hit hers.
“Descriptive Statistics,” Cindy said confidently, looking up at Liz for reassurance that her answer was correct.
“That is correct,” Liz confirmed with a smile. Peter had tuned out their voices after that, lost in thought until Ned tapped his shoulder lightly.
”You good? You’ve been staring at nothing for the past few minutes,” Ned observed. “Did something happen with MJ?”
Peter shook his head, “No, just thinking.” His spidey sense was letting out a quiet warning, not one saying he was in immediate danger, but one that was telling him something unexpected would be happening. Maybe someone he knew was nearby. Peter rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, deciding to refocus on the questions Liz was asking.
“If—“ Liz started, but her train of thought was interrupted by the door being slammed open.
“Hey guys, sorry about that. I was going to break it down but remembered that—“ Oh, Peter knew that voice. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up in alert. If Wade were actually here, that would mean it had to have been an emergency. Either, that, or Wade wanted to do something stupid like get tacos or some shit.
“Holy crap, is that Deadpool?” Flash exclaimed, practically jumping in place.
“Language!” Mr Harrington chastised, despite “crap” not even being considered a bad word anywhere else besides his classroom.
“BABY BOY! There you are!” Wade shrieked, practically skipping over to the group of shocked teenagers. Peter resisted the urge to hide behind Ned, instead putting his hands up in surrender. “Franky wanted to infiltrate that one place but like he kind of got stabbed—Like a lot. Y’know those Hand people or whatever—“
”Wait—Wait—WAIT!” Peter put a hand over Wade’s mask where his mouth would be, putting his other hand over his mouth with his pointer finger up. “How’s DD?”
”I don’t know.” Wade shrugged. “I kind of left him there.”
”Why on earth would you, who’s immortal—Leave a guy on the verge of death and his helpless friend with benefits or whatever they are together?” Peter asked, dumbfounded. He knew Wade acted impulsively, but maybe he just had too much faith in Matt.
“Okay well they were kind of arguing and it looked like it was one sentence away from turning into angry making out—Like I don’t mind but if there’s ever a second POV that’s gonna probably put the fic up to a Teen rating, and we don’t want that.” Wade winked up at nothing, leaving Peter even more confused.
”A fic? Is that like the fanart of me with those ten Myst—“ Peter suddenly realized his whole class was still watching. All of their jaws had dropped, including Ned who had met Wade on multiple occasions. MJ was the only one who wasn’t, instead she was smirking, watching the two bicker.
“Oh, hey guys,” Peter said, flustered. “Everything you see is non disclosed information, so you don’t tell a soul ‘kay?”
“Not even your dying grandma, capiche?” Wade said, “Or else I will kill you and your family.” he added darkly, making Peter slowly drag him away.
Peter tapped on his chest twice, activating the portable suit which expanded around his body and fitted like spandex. He pulled over his mask that was in his bag and equipped his web shooters.
Flash’s jaw was somehow even lower, blush creeping up his neck. Mr Harrington looked like something between amazement and shock, despite somehow remaining calm about situations like these. Peter saluted to Ned and MJ before swinging out, Wade following shortly behind.
The last thing the team heard or saw was Wade yelling, “I meant what I said!” and closing the door behind him.
“What the fuck just happened,” Sally asked, amazed. “Peter is Spider-Man. That makes so much sense.”
”Ned, you knew?” Flash asked, still stricken and flushed. “Why didn’t you tell us!”
Ned shrugged. MJ smirked. “It’s funny. You didn’t like Peter Parker yet had a huge crush on Spider-Man. But maybe you truly did like Peter Parker since you were always commenting on his genitalia, calling him ‘Penis’ on the daily.”
”Okay maybe I had a crush on-“
Peter ran over to where Frank lay, now stitched up. He looked better than how Wade described, and Matt looked worn out.
“Are you guys okay—“ Peter asked at the same time Wade asked,
”Did you two make out?”
”Yes,” Matt and Frank said in unison, not confirming which question that was the answer to.
