The sound of birds filled the air as Miku made pancakes. It was peaceful, as everyday since she started living with Teto was. It had been a week now and Miku wasn't used to waking up in the same bed as her lover, so it was always a pleasant surprise.
When she finished the pancakes, she placed them onto two plates. She walked over to her room. Teto was still fast asleep, she looked so at peace Miku almost felt bad for waking her up.
“Hey,” Miku shook Teto’s shoulders,”It’s 9:00 am, rise and shine.”
Teto’s eyes fluttered open and she turned to look at Miku, “Hey.” Her voice sounded like two rocks rubbing against each other
“Are you feeling okay?” Miku placed her hand to Teto’s forehead, “You feel really hot.”
“I’m fine.”
“Let me get the thermometer.” Miku ran out of the room and retrieved the thermometer, when she came back, she placed it against Teto’s forehead. “It says your 101℉!”
“I told you I’m fine.” Teto whined, but Miku was already making tea.
Teto had been feeling bad for around 4 days, but it was Miku’s first week, and she didn’t need to be bothered by it! Her body ached and it hurt to move, still, Teto walked over to Miku.
“You really don’t have to make tea for me.”
“You’re obviously sick, this will make you feel better.”
“Babe, I appreciate it, but you’ve only been here for a week. You should worry about getting comfortable, not me.” Teto coughed into her sleeve and gave Miku a small smile.
“I wouldn’t have chosen to move in with someone I didn’t want to spend time with and for. You're always loving me, let me love you.”
“You can show you love me by doing what’s best for you. I love to see you happy.”
“You deserve to be happy too. You deserve to be safe, and to have someone to take care of you. I want to be that person. Taking care of you makes me happy.”
The tea kettle whistled and Miku poured it into a cup, “Here you go,” She handed a cup to Teto.
“I’m not thirsty,” She handed the cup back to Miku, but Miku didn’t take it from her hands.
“Drink.”
Teto hesitated for just a second before setting it on the counter and walking into the guest bedroom. She locked the door behind her. She didn’t need to get in Miku’s way anymore.

Miku needed a plan. Obviously she couldn’t convince Teto that she wanted to help with words alone. She would go out of her way to care for her.
Miku got in her car and turned on the engine. She set route for Walmart as she made a mental list of what she needed.
She would need a bag of cough drops and some tissues. Ice packs, bubble bath mixture, and a crossword book would all probably make it more bearable. She should also write a little note.
When she arrived, she hopped out of her car and hurried into the store. She grabbed the necessary materials, and some of Teto’s favorite snacks- baguettes and cookie dough- as well as some tea. She checked out of the store and headed back home. She would let Teto know how much she meant to her.

A knock came on the door. Teto didn’t answer. Another knock.
“Do you,” Teto sneezed, “Need something?”
“I have some things to give you.”
“I’m fine.”
“We both know that’s a lie. I already spent the money on it, let me give it to you.”
“Why would you buy something for me?” Teto didn’t understand. How could Miku not realize what a waste she was?
“Because I care about you. Teto, I love you. You mean so much to me. I want to spend my money on you. I want to spend my time taking care of you. I want to sit in front of a stove and make tea for you.”
Miku…really thought she was worthwhile. Teto stood up, but it was too quick and she was too weak. The world started spinning and there were rocks weighing her down. She unlocked the door, just before the spinning got to her and she collapsed.

There was a loud bang soon after the door was unlocked. Miku pushed it open to find Teto in a heap on the floor. The first thing that stuck out was that she was paler than usual. Her eyelids opened.
“Are you okay?”
“I think so.”
“What happened?”
“I stood up,” Teto coughed,”And everything was spinning, and then I collapsed.”
Miku handed Teto the bag of cough drops, “Here I got these to help with the cough. I also got some other stuff.” Miku handed Teto everything she had bought.
Teto’s eyes went wide,”Are you sure this is all for me? We can go return it.”
“Teto, look at me. I love you and I’ll say it as many times as it takes for you to understand.”
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
They sat there looking at each other for a bit. Tears welled in Teto’s eyes and Miku was quick to wipe them away.
Miku reached for Teto’s hand,”Do you think you can stand up?”
“I think so,” Teto stood up. It was wobbly, but better than nothing.
Miku grabbed onto her to make sure she didn’t fall and led her back to her bed,”Tell me if you need anything.” Miku placed the tissues, ice pack, crossword puzzle, and snacks on the nightstand. She started to leave the room.
“Wait!” Teto shouted. “Could you uhm, could you stay for a bit?”
“Of course.” Miku stood by her as she slept. She felt kind of weird just sitting there, but if it made Teto happy, it was worth it.
