Summary
Ancient forest spirit Lucifer has spent his immortal existence in isolation from humans, serving as protector of his remote mountain home and suffering from a curse placed upon him by a family that had once claimed to love him. He has dedicated his life to shielding the animals and spirits under his care from the careless cruelty of the humans he used to admire. With a single exception, a girl named Charlie with a mysterious connection that Lucifer refuses to reveal.
Sly fox spirit, Alastor, has wandered for decades in search of power that was rightfully his, stolen by the greedy humans he used to assist–for a price. When he comes upon Lucifer’s forest he is intrigued by the chimaera and his old magic, deciding it might be the perfect place to find what he has been seeking for so long. He just has to gain Lucifer’s trust, but that may prove difficult with the secrets lying in his shadows.
With danger looming over Lucifer’s land and his old curse hindering him, he must rely on help from Alastor and Charlie to restore the peace threatened by a corporation looking to steal and develop the land for profit.
