Work Text:
There was something… off about the hospital, as Secret Agent walked into the understaffed hospital. But everything looked normal. No weird goop shit on the floor, no one screaming as an anomaly attacked them. It was quiet, other than the sound of Dr. Harlow and the Head Nurse talking in hushed voices near the shop, while an odd looking animal stood near them. The weird part was, they didn’t look… right. Secret agent walked closer, finally able to get a clear look at the other person. A weird, too large yet thin smile, small eyes… it was an anomaly. And they weren’t even doing anything about it. Secret agent pulled his pistol from his jacket. Just as Dr. Harlow spoke.
“Now, now, let’s not act so quickly. They’re the new intern I told you all about in the email,” He said simply. As if that explained everything.
Secret Agent stared in shock before putting a hand on his hip, and rubbing his temple in frustration. “So… allow me to lay this straight. You hired an intern due to being under staffed… However…” He said through clenched teeth, clenching his fist. “ You proceeded to hire one of THEM?” He hollered in contempt.
Dr. Harlow, along with the Head Nurse started calmly at the Secret Agent before the Doctor spoke.
“I understand your… frustration. But please… give them a chance,” He asked calmly.
Agent huffed, but didn’t say anything. Dr. Harlow was, after all, the boss in this hospital and even if he disliked his decisions he had to deal with them. Agent reluctantly put his pistol back into his jacket, looking at Intern with suspicion written obviously across his face before turning and walking away while the anomaly just stood there. Walking down the hall to cool off in one of the vacant patient rooms, he opened the door and slammed it shut, the sound echoing until it reached the others. He took a deep breath and let it out, knowing he couldn’t get worked up since it was always a busy shift.
